You win ni$mo350. How is that you remember who these guys sponsors are?

The other guy is Bisping. I will be sure to remove the logo from their shorts next time

Randy looks great for his age.

Turing this to a discussion thread now. Even though its a weak card and there might be some exciting fights.

Randy is local so we know all about him and support him and all the guys at Team Quest (I live about 10 min from them) and Randy's daughter is on the same softball team as my friends daughter so I've had a chance to meet him a couple times. Very down to earth and yes he's in amazing shape for ANY age haha. As far as Swick, I did process of elimination. Went to the Sprawl site and went through the sponsored fighters and the card. and I knew that was Bisping but I hate that british c***. I got a hard on when Hendo KO'd him...

Pretty boring main fight. Very smart on Randy's side but a little dissapointed he didn't stand with him. I think although Randy controlled most of the fight by pushing him against the cage, Vera deserved the win and I think both of them knew it. I don't blame Vera for taking it the way he did. I was pissed that Bisping won though... I have to give him props for his defense on the ground and getting out of the mount so quickly but damn Kang should've finished him off.

i was livid after the kang vs bisping fight. i was thinkign to myself, kang should have this in the bag by at least a decision. and it would be real nice to see bisping get KTFO again. so when kang landed that first flash KO, i nearly jumped outta my seat. and when he landed the next 2, i started thinking. why the heck cant he finish him off?? and after that first take down bisping got, kang just couldnt find his bearings again. it was very dissapointing.

Couture knew it, I agree. He was searching for a good answer when they asked him if he was surprised he won. Good fight though and if I was as in shape as Couture now as he is, I would be happy. Amazing fighter.

I know Kang would woop my @$$ with one arm... but damn he's fallen off a ton since Pride.

He's like Vitor post-UFC... wilts under heavy pressure.

185 is looking pretty sad right now.

And Vera got ripped off. Like he said... "Thanks Judges". Every loss he's had is with some guy just leaning the f*ck on him for 3 rounds. Kinda feel bad for the guy... that's a terrible way to lose fights.

One arm? I dont care who it is, I think I would do fairly well if the other person just had one arm.

Main event was very lackluster. I think they gave Randy the fight based on control. I guess control is more important then damage. They really should break down how fights are scored so we can know what to look for.

I was really surprised how quick Bisping was on his back. I dont think we ever seen that from him.

I cant see Hardy doing well against GSP. Nice of GSP to say that he deserves the fight though.

I would assume normal judges would acknowledge 3-4 brutal midsection kicks (one of which took him down to his knees) over holding someone against the cage for 4 1/2 minutes straight. I really do think it's based on the individual judges and they're history. I was into skating and could never understand how a flawless run with safe tricks by Andy Mac would beat some crazy over the top runs by Bucky or Bob with finger tip grabs and wobbles all over the place but looking back now it's on the judges. If they prefer one style over the other then that will sway the deciding vote one way or the other.

well thats the thing you guys are missing. is they dont judge like this. if you listen at the start of every ufc event. mike goldberg tells you exactly how they judge the bout, and how its scored.

the bout is a 10 point must system. with the loser recieving 9 or less points. points are based on aggression, and octagon control.

you really dont need to know any more than that. and according to those rules, it was clear, that randy was the winner. i was really cheering for vera in this fight, but according to the 10 point system, he just didnt earn it. when he is being held against the cage, not only has he lost octagon control, but he also is not the aggressor. if vera wouldve made more effort to circle out, and land some blows every time randy tried to hold against the cage. im sure he wouldve won.

I'm pretty sure "effective striking" is one of them that he mentions too.

If one fighter has more effective strikes but the other controlled the fight who wins? One of the criteria has to hold more weight then the other. I dont have a problem with the decision. Just making an assumption on the outcome.

yes, thanks for pointing that out. i knew there was something i missed in there. we can also compare this to the fight too. when randy did strike, with his dirty boxing against the cage. they were clean and well placed.

personally i wouldve given the striking edge to vera. but its easy to see how someone couldve judged it as even. so with randy getting the edge on octagon control and aggression, he won the fight.

But how 'effective' are strikes that are not damaging and that does little to effect the outcome of the fight?

For argument sake lets say Vera won the striking. Did Couture win because he got 2/3? Now that I think about it I think grappling is one of them too. I think he says effective striking, grappling, aggression and octagon control. In this case what would happen if each fighter won two of the criteria. 10 10 round? They should rank them so we know which one holds more weight.

either way. the common theme we all seem to agree on. is the 10 point system needs to be revamped, or replaced.
