Only one of them has a "perfect" record. AS has legit losses

Pound for pound, I give it to Anderson Silva because he has more recent wins & more devastating wins, including moving up in weight to demolish a solid 205pounder.

Fedor absolutely destroyed Tim Sylvia, and can lay a valid claim to #1 HW, but Fedor has been inactive over the past few years, having fought a MW (Lindland) and a guy with no MMA experience (Choi).

I'd still have to say Fedor but the spider would be as close to perfection at this point as anyone in mma

I voted Fedor after the way he dismantled Tim there's no doubt.. It took randy 25 minutes to get a d when he had Tim in the same exact position in the first round when they fought and he couldn't finish him then here comes big Nog who took 13 minutes to finish him by RNC. Since Fedor fights guys who outweigh him by more than 25lbs in alomost every fight he gets the LB for LB crown in my eyes... he is that far ahead of BJ and GSP with Silva trailing closely!

Fedor.

Top 10 wins by AS:
Henderson
Franklin x2
Marquardt

Top 10 wins by Fedor:
Big Nog x2
Sylvia
Crocop
Lindland(not a natural hw)

Losses AS:
Luiz Azeredo
Daiju Takase
Ryo Chonan

Losses Fedor:
None

Both divisions are pretty shitty in terms of talent, personally I think 185 is a little shittier than HW, but they both don't have much competition outside of the top 10. Silva has 3 losses to guys who just aren't good, the guys he lost to combined record is 33-26, one guy has a losing record. AS is good but not undefeated. His competition maybe has been better lately but nothing incredible. If he stayed at 205 and cleaned out top talent there then maybe but if he just sits at 185 and knocks out scrubs then I don't really see him as #1.

Fedor has a loss to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka from December, 2000, although he did win the rematch in 2005.

One was stopped too early because of a cut.

Did you all forget Urijah Faber? I still think pound for pound the Spider is the best fighter in the world.

No, Urijah Faber was not forgotten. He needs to fight some more top quality opponents. He's top 6 P4P IMO

I agree although he did wail on Jens Pulver. Plus Anderson Silva finishes all his opponents without ever going to the judges and most are in the first round.

Look at Fedor's last 6 opponents. 1 MW, 3 have a combined record of 11-9, Coleman and CC. Neither whom have been impressive.

I honestly want to see Silva get some real good fights at 205... Lately its been Silva just cleaning up fight after fight and like some said Fedor needs some good opponents not some people that were decent 3 years ago

Silva whooped his first 205 opponent in the first minute of the first round last weekend. That man puts the "artist" in martial artist.

so does a fighter need to be undefeated to be considered pound for pound #1?

p.s.
i'd vote for both if could. f*ck all this "lb for lb" nonsense..just enjoy both fighters doing what they do best.
