Do you do this?

I only wave to fellow motorcycles who are wearing proper gear. If you are wearing shorts on a motorcycle you don't deserve my wave and I hope you crash.

I wouldn't hope they crash, no need too, they will eventually, that's where they hopefully have the chance to learn a very valuable lesson, that it's better to sweat than bleed. I'll wave to most on bikes, unless there's a group of harleys where I wave to the first one and nobody else waves, then they get a special kind of wave.

Maybe it's just me, but people go a little overboard and are actually pretty immature themselves talking like that. It's a personal decision to wear or not wear gear. Some people act as though it's going to hurt them or something because someone else prefers not to wear it. Anyone that loves the hobby deserves yours and my wave, as long as they're not an irresponsible rider (does not include an irresponsible gear wearer). To wish a crash on someone, in my eyes, makes you as worthy for a crash as them.

Most of the riders not wearing gear on todays sportbikes really don't enjoy riding , they just ride cause its trendy and think they can get chicks cause of their bike. They get no wave from me.

Yeah, but you can't really judge a persons motives by what they wear riding down the road.

And for those wondering, no I don't dress down while riding. I could do better though. I always wear jeans, my textile jacket, and helmet. I wear leather gloves when it's cold, but they irritate me while riding in normal conditions. I could do better on foot wear. I just wear good padded shoes. I want to look into getting some leather boots that aren't too bulky for the rearsets.

Wow, and your disrespectful ass wouldn't deserve a wave from me either.

I usually wear gear minus leather pants..(usually jeans)

But I sometimes take a quick ride without it, sometimes when I am at the garage and look at the bike, I hop on for a quick spin..

In Pa we don't have to wear a helmet, so you can imagine what people drive around wearing..or not wearing..

I would never wish it upon someone to crash just because of their choice of gear. I on the other hand always, at minimum, wear a helmet, gloves, and jeans. I wave at every motorcycle I see, if they don't wave back f*ck'em. Doesn't hurt my feelings any. I always try to initiate the wave.

Exactly. You're more likely to get a wave back from guys on Goldwings or Harleys than squids wearing board shorts and flip-flops anyway.

That's why I don't bother waving. They're not into bikes for the same reason I am.

I always wear my gear. One of the few times ever that I didn't wear my jacket was the time I laid down. It was not a bad wreck but I did scrape my arms good. I havent been on since without it.

yup.. i wave to everyone.. but the people who wave back are usually cruiser guys or harley guys..

thats one thing with the harley/cruiser folks.. even though alot of them don't take courses.. they have such a rich tradition of riding that they all carry down the hand signals.. the waving.. all motorcycle riding etiquitte..

i really can see whay alot of them hate sport bike riders.. and tell you the truth.. i'm starting to hate alot of sport bike riders too

I ride my Harley from my house to the beach 90% of the time. It's about a mile. All roads are 45 or less, and most are 35 and 25 MPH. I wear whatever the weather calls for. Anything from harley boots and leather jacket to flip flops and cargo shorts. I waive to everyone I know or on a bike (even guys on crotch rockets like the OP) and make funny faces at kids that are watching me from car seats.

When I go to bike week at Myrtle I wear all my protective gear for the ride down.

Yeah I feel the same way. 99.9999999999999% of the time I see a sport bike, it is engaged in some squidly act endangering everyone.

Whoooooaaaa there guys, you're doing the same thing sportbike riders do, about all harley riders drunk and hauling meth, not true, but there's a common misconception. Yeah I'll agree there's a ton of shythead squidly nOOb sportbike riders, but that's because of the "ninja" stigma these days and the "everyone should own a Hayabusa and go 200mph" magazine covers, it's crap. For every numbnut sportbike rider, there's a weekend only harley rider that's out to prove to the world he's "fuqin hardcore", then go back to the shirt & tie monday morning boring career.

+1. Have you guys ever seen Wild Hogs? He is basically referring to John Travolta's character.

Like Robbycolli mentioned, i wear whatever the weather calls for. I usually always wear a helmet & gloves but there are those few times when i ride without. I usually ride around in anything from shorts/t-shirt to full blown leathers. If i know i'll be doing high speeds, long distance, or group ride i'm usually in jeans, boots, gloves, jacket, etc. If i'm just going to the store, dinner, or whatever then i'm in whatever the weather calls for.

I wave at everyone. I love how bikers do that! Down here in FL, its usually the hardcore harley guys that don't wave back. I guess they're to hardcore to wave.

I just love riding! i own a sport bike and i'm currently piecing together my custom bobber. I don't think everyone lives up to the stero typical rider.

you are more likely to get killed in your run of hte mill around town rides than on the highway.. if i am riding 1/2 mile to the gas station i am in full leathers or at least thick jeans.. but still wearing riding boots
