Talking *Picked up my 1st bike yesterday*

Finally took the plunge yesterday. I picked up an 05' SV650S.

I had been contemplating between that an an older F4i, but after riding my friends Ninja 650R (twin engine) and enjoying the hell out of it, I knew I wanted the V-twin powerband for my 1st bike, its just useful in every situation/gear.

I took my MSF course months ago, and recently (within 2 months) 3 of my friends bought bikes, funny I was the first to take the motorcycle plunge but last to find a bike. It still hasnt settled in. I'll have tags and insurance today so I'll be riding after work I already ordered a rear seat cowl and some top triple and gas tank CF accents/covers. Plans include Hotbodies undertail, complete lower fairing, Leo Vince high mount, and new front turn signals. That should keep me happy for a while. I'll update the thread as I mod it.

Few pics with my friends 650R...

Very nice choice of bikes to start with. I prefer a twin to an inline 4, but to each his own (that and most manufacturers don't make twins anymore). There should be a BOAT load of performance parts for that bike on the WERA forums. It is/was one of the most popular race/trackday bikes.

Get a good helmet, gloves, boots, and at bare minimum a nice jacket with armor.

Have fun!

Sweet~! We have twins now.

Looks like a very unmolested SV650S.. still even has the oem fender. If you plan on running sliders, motosliders are the way to go.

Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Great choice....you'll love it. Such a good streetbike and really good gas mileage to boot.

That would be my first choice for a bike. Those things look sweet with the lower fairing added. It will look just like a high performance street bike.

Congrats on your first bike bro! How long did you just stare at it in the garage the first night you bought it?

When you guys start to hear those front tires of the sport/tour tires "singing", swap'em out for some full sport tires, you'll feel like you're jumping off a cliff, it'll just dive into corners, helluva difference in handling.

I have an Arai helmet, Joe Rocket jacket/gloves. Im ordering pants and boots online early next week.

At the minimum for slow riding I feel ok with what I mentioned above and jeans and boots (non motorcylce for now). Trust me I HATE seeing these young kids on bikes they cant handle with wife beaters and chicken strips, makes me sick, all my friends are great with always riding with gear.

Im off on a nice slow cruise with 3 friends over the Bay Bridge for the night. Cant wait

Albert-Im looking into what framesliders work with lower fairings other than the weak Suzuki one's.

For anybody wondering, Im 24 clean record, full coverage, good limits $47/month full coverage through Progressive. It could be less if I tranferred my cars over but Im happy with that coverage. Got the bike for less than $4000!!
