Is a Kawasaki Ninja 250R Too Small for 5'11" 260 lbs?

This wouldn't be my 1st bike, I used to ride a modified Yamaha 2 stroke street bike back in the day. This would be a commuter bike since I commute 100 miles a day.

Will you be too small for it? 5'11, no. 260lbs, yes.

i feel sorry for that poor scooter. it'll be screaming for its life! you might have to push it up a hill but i'm sure you could coast down it.

5'11 260? I'm 6'2" 260 and I have to lose about 30 lbs. You should lose some too! If we're going to be riding bikes we should be in better shape!

I considered a 250 strongly, either the older one or the update. But I decided against it because I don't believe it can accelerate fast enough with me on it. It'd be around 10-12 seconds to 60 MPH I think. So I'd get something bigger, just as a matter of safety. While the Ninja can keep up with most cars, it seems to me you're better off to be able to just jump out ahead of traffic to get clear, or be able to merge by accelerating quickly sometimes.

.
you don't know what shape he is in.. he could be all muscle.. being 5'11 and 260 means he has alot of muscle.. maybe not alot.. but he has muscle.. muscle weighs more than fat.. someone 5'11 240 could have 30% body fat while a person 5'11 260 could have 15%

Agreed. I am 5'5" By no means am i that tall, but i weigh at 182 lbs. when my target weight for my height is 150. Am i overweight? Nope i work out yet i look like i weigh about 160-170.

To the OP just sit on the 250, if it feels to small for you, you can get the 500.

Either way 260 lbs on a 250= phail

Thats less than 1cc per pound of body weight therefore E * 9.8m/s divided by 260= 1/250 divided by 360^2.

who's theory is that? is that the 'theory by squids' who can't be seen on a smaller bike?

as long as the bike manufatuer specifies a weight and you are not over it.. then you can ride the bike.. not everyone is doing full throttle blasts to 175 mph

i would ride a 250.. definately.. i'm 6'3 / 250 lbs.. the 250 looks hot this year.. and it looks like a great bike to take on some back roads and beat her like a red headed step child

A 250 isn't too small for you... you'll still be able to accelerate briskly from a stop (for a 250) and the new 250 looks hot. But if you've ridden in the past, why not consider one of the 650 offerings from Kawasaki (EX650) or Suzuki (SV650). Both have a very managable powerband, but the added oomph would be desirable, especially on the highway.

a used SV650 should b right around the same price as a new 250..

or you could look at some of the cruiser bikes.. older ones.. like the honda night hawk

It may be different now, but the dealerships were not dealing whatsoever on the '08 Ninja 250 when they first came out a few months back. Right now, a leftover (new, '07) SV650 even work out to be the same price as a new 250.

Of course I know all that, but I've also considered the probabilities.
