1998 katana 750 w/ 16k miles for $3,000.... should i get it?
Ok I've researched this a little and seen that the average selling price for this bike is just north of 4k. This one is black, and in great shape and has 16k miles on it (not sure how high that is for a motorcycle). Anyway, what would you guys do?

I'd deffo pass on that, for 3 grand you can pick up an awesome bike, tell the guy to go shyt in his hat for even offering that to you. I used to have an 89 Katana, that was when they were great bikes, then they went to the shytter, made them all fruit looking and suzuki started putting their time to the gsxr600 in the 90's. Later model "Kan of tuna's" are in my opinion the ugliest bikes next to that gs500 they put out in the last few years.
Check your local listings, you can pick up an 02 R6, 02 gix600, or an 01-03 F4i for around that price. Good luck man, if you have 3grand, sit on it and be patient, a beautiful bike will come your way

thanks for the opinions guys but I really think i can get this guy to come down. He's desperate to sell. What do you think would be a good offering price? I originally didn't want to spend more than 1500 on a bike and quickly reallized that5 was an unreallistic goal.

thats crazy... By the way, I'm not really buying a bike for speed and performance. Thats what my car is for. I just want something that will get good gas mileage around town as an alternative to driving my car, and something that will be comfortable on interstate trips. From what i've read this bike fits that criteria

Make sure you get it checked out by a reputable mechanic before buying!
The lowend price on KBB is $2250! Does it have a fairing, been laid down, ect! |

If your heart is set on this one, gotta help a brutha out, I say go for it and lowball the piss out of the guy, it's an ugly mofo of a bike, but if you can swipe it for under 2 grand, it gets great gas mileage, so if the forks/frame/subframe/wheels etc are straight, hasn't been layed down, it may be a good deal, but with a sport/touring bike like that, the stock tires are probably still on it, and I'd bet if they are they're probably rock hard and worthless, as well as with the chain and sprockets are in need of change, but a half decent shop will be able to tell you that, and adjust price of bike accordingly. Good luck and post up what happens

they might not be the best lookers but they are good bikes. if you want info on what to look for or what a fair price should be go to katriders.com they have everything you could possibly need. very helpful people. I rebuilt several kats and if you have any questions just ask.
