Exclamation Pics: Our ride yesterday = Man Down

Three friends and myself met up with Jeffie yesterday after work for some nice backroad riding. Snapped some pics with the P&S, had some fun, had some worries, took more pics. I'll let Charles (Integrity) explain what happened, the good thing was he wasnt hurt-other than the usual pride. Good times Jeffie, we def gotta do that more often.

Going too fast around a 10mph corner = getting owned. If I remember correctly, I was still breaking when I started to lean. We all know that leaning and braking at the same time is not a good thing. The bike reminded me of that by getting squirrelly so I stood it back up and braked some more. Naturally I ran out of road pretty quickly and when I tried to lean into the turn again, I was already on my way into the nice soft grassy area. Bike goes down easily and I Superman my way to a stop. My left wrist was a little sore yesterday but today its fine. My left elbow and shoulder are a little sore now, but I imagine that'll be gone by tomorrow. Nothing really hurt but my pride.

All in all it was a good time. I'm going to have to keep riding those roads so I can get used to them. Even though I fell, that won't deter me from riding them again. Thank you Jeffie, for coming back and getting me. And F U Dan for riding on even though I wasn't behind you anymore.

At least it's good you know the mistake you made......gotta do all your braking while you're still upright and going straight. Track days taught me to do that more than anything else.

We made it to the gas station, and we are all like "wtf happened to Charles?"

Dans reply..."Steve I was honking at you and $hit didnt you hear me?"

Steve: "no or I would have stopped"

Dan: "I kept going, but I didnt see Charles after that turn"

Lesson learned - keep a better eye on your riding buddies.

Jeffie, 1 on 1 sounds good, your bike is scary fast lol.

Yeah, I feel pretty silly since I was taught how to get through tight turns like that, and I did exactly what I was taught NOT to do. Instead of leaning harder, accelerating, and looking through the turn, I fixated on where I was going rather then where I wanted to go. I even remember thinking to myself, "Well, atleast it looks soft." LOL.

Oh well, time to go clean the dirt off the bike, BRB.

By the looks of those tires, you had PLENTY of room to lean, and what was said above, trackdays will teach you that. When in doubt, LEAN! don't get caught pondering what to do last minute going into a corner and stand it up, you're screwed then. Also, is that an old D207!?! That thing was discontinued yeeears ago I believe, that the stock rear on that 01/02 R6? If so, it's probably hard as a nangkang and slippery as a pornstar chick on yayo

Glad to see you're ok man, hate seeing people go down. May wanna upgrade to some leather, and pick up some gloves with a gauntlet

I was the only d-bag not wearing riding pants and boots. I had left both of those at a buddies house, but I always wear jacket/helmet/gloves.

I'm on the fence about getting a bike now. The past few months that I've been doing my research, plotted, etc. I've been really paying attention to the lack of respect riders get on the roads out here. I mean, I know **** happens, but I don't go a day without seeing a cager damn near take someone out because they're on their cell, doing their hair, etc. One of my boys got hit and went down going ~65 and got messed up pretty bad. Seen an accident a few weeks ago where a dude wrecked his cruiser due to some trucker. On top of that, the roads SUCK out here.

I might be waiting until I get back to the mainland to pick up my first bike.
