First Bike - Pics

Hey guys,

With gas being the nightmare it is, I picked up a bike to help with my commute. I just picked her up July 3rd and I'm really... never going to be able to go back to not riding.

She's a 2004 Triumph Daytona 600. Found it in just about pristine condition. Never been down, no drama. She's not as overbearing as the R6 or GSX-R6 on low-end torque, but once the revs cross 6000 it's like hearing an Aria.

If it makes you feel any better, the GSX-R and R6 both have no power below 6000 rpm.

Daytona is a great bike, I love how they look, its nice seeing them since they're different. I'd rock one but love my 1K too much= )

Great bike. The Triumphs definitely stand out from the crowd.

Good looking bike man, the brits really stepped it up with that year and previous to the looks of the jap 4's, still didn't quite match up with them with stability and all-around, but they were obviously in the right direction to be competitive.

If it doesn't have enough punch for you, just throw on some new sprockets, maybe a -1/+2, should do ya

Congrats on the bike, but after you factor in the price of the bike, price of the gear, maintenance(especially tires) and insurance, you are not saving chit.

Compared to KS, I imagine that traffic is pretty intense. I moved down here from Los Angeles four years ago... so I'm used to a much more busy traffic situation... and you still won't find me on youtube. I have no desire to be street pizza.

i get flammed on this site when it comes to bikes because of where i live. i'm on the panhandle of FL where traffic isn't to bad so my bike advice is 100% different then someone who lives in a big city.

At what age it begins to get silly rilding a sport bike? 30s, 40s? use to love riding in my twenties, but now I'm in my 30s...I keep thinking I'm too old to be seen on a sport bike hanging with kids in their late teens early twenties.

Your never too old. I have a few friends well into their 30's and 40's who still ride sport bikes. A friend of mine, ex-coworker, is like 42 and still rides his TL1000R all the time.

Hell even one day a few years back we caught up with a guy on a brand new 998 wearing full gear. He rode VERY well. Then we pulled over to chat. When the guy took off his helmet i was shocked. It was a 60 year old guy out riding his new 998. He just traded in his older 916 for it. I thought that was awesome and still think so.

There isn't a godman age limit on riding? That's the dumbest phucking thing I've ever heard, that's like saying at what age is it not cool to breath oxygen? I know a couple guys well into their 60's that are so fast they'd make most anyone else on the road at that time feel so stupid they wouldn't put a helmet on again. Hey man, I'm 33, I don't hang with guys in their 20's because most of them don't have enough experience/seat time on a sportbike to keep up

Get out there and ride bro, you give a fulk what people think?

More pics?

Whoever said you weren't going to save any money was entirely correct, but it doesn't matter -- its still a bike. You wouldn't have bought a sport bike if fuel economy was your first priority.

You've never ridden a Busa, have you?

On the age issue, I'm in my 40's and I ride the piss out of my Busa and CBR600F4. Age is a state of mind.

You might never be too old, but accident rates begin to increase over 40 since reaction time slows. Over 50 or 60 is probably pretty dangerous.

Except most 30-50 year old riders actually use their brains when they ride. I bet the accident rate on a 50 year old rider is lower than that of anyone in their 20's. Check insurance rates.
