Motorcycle Racer Craig Jones Dies in Crash

The guy was 23 years old. Love the sport bike racing. Tough to watch this vid and see someone die right in front of you.

Yeah, that was sad news. I really rooted for him when he was on the Foggy bike with Corser a few years back. He was in 2nd place in the race too.....

Man that's horrific to watch... 23 years old. God. Everyday I read this subforum I'm encouraged not to get a bike.

I think it was head trauma...from what I read the rider behind him actually hit him in the head....couldn't avoid him in time.....they had to re-start his heart 5 times right there on the track.

Looking at it more closely it does look like the rider behind him may have clipped his head as he passed by

I need to update my gear... Honestly, I'm more worried about mechanical failure than I am about getting hit or losing control. I remember when my chain broke on me @ only 20 MPH. Nailed me pretty hard in the calf muscle, but what if it had wrapped around the wheel and jammed up the drivetrain?

Some people fall off a pedal bike and hit the ground just right and die, it happens. I think he was spinning pretty darn fast and could have been hit like the others said by the other rider, or he could have landed just right to cause major damage to his neck/head.

hopefully we'll get an update on the report for a cause of death.

Most people who die on motorcycles get hit by a car or run into a car that pulls out in front of them.

This person died in a controlled environment with EMS standing by waiting for something to happen.
Does this make you not want to ride a bike, or not do anything that has to do with motorsports? from drag, to oval to bikes to gokarts.....
sometimes chit happens.

With that being said, I've seen wrecks that look 10 times worse, gas tank leaking and catching on fire while the bike gets ripped to pieces as it flips, with the rider just walking away from it.

RIP to craig jones,

Englishman Craig Jones has died as a result of head injuries sustained during last weekend's World Supersport race at Brands Hatch, Great Britain.

The 23-year-old Jones lost control of his Parkalgar Honda through the fast Clark Curve towards the end of lap seven of the restarted race, whilst battling for his first WSS victory in his home event.

As Jones accelerated through the fast right-hand turn that leads onto the home straight, he lost the rear of his CBR600RR, sliding almost completely sideways before being pitched violently backwards onto the asphalt.

World championship leader Andrew Pitt attempted to take avoiding action, but was left with nowhere to go and appeared to clip Jones as the Englishman spiralled uncontrollably down the track. The race was immediately stopped and Jones was later diagnosed with a serious head injury.

The rider was initially treated at the scene of the accident and then transferred to the Circuit Medical Centre - where the Clinica Mobile states he was resuscitated four times - before being flown by Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.

Jones arrived in an 'extremely critical condition' and was placed in a pharmacological coma by doctors to try and stabilise his condition.

Tragically, it has been officially announced that Jones died during the early hours of Monday morning.
