Thoughts on a MV Augusta Brutale and other naked bikes...

So I have the means to get a new motorcycle.

I am looking at the Brutale and the Aprilia Tuono. I loved my Suzuki SV650. I am just looking to get into something different.

Anyone have any thoughts? I've been riding now for 8 years.

I would go with the aprilia.. I think the MV would be to much maintance and I don't like the I4. I would test ride each and then decide. I'm willing to bet you will like the ape the best. I think LowJ has a Tuono he is selling. You might give Triumph a look. The Speed triple is bad ass imo.

Another vote for the Tuono. I love the v-twin powerband and it is a sexy bike IMHO. I've seen some smokin' deals on brand new Aprilias.

I like all those bikes mentioned above and just noticed the BMW R1200R too. I'm going to try to check it out this weekend...

Naked bike refers to a class of road motorcycles without fairings.

Also known as a "standard" or "street bike," this is the basic form of the motorcycle stripped down to its fundamental parts. The emphasis is on functionality and ergonomics rather than aerodynamic body panels and exaggerated riding positions that are most common on sport bikes.
...from Wikipedia

I vote for Tuono R - for the price of a MV you should even get a Tuono R Factory!

No fairings, and sometimes no upper fairings.

I agree with others about the Tuono.
Cagiva makes a few interesting looking creatures (not sure where you can find a dealer).
There is always the Duc monster that can be had for less than 10k used for a nice one.
Naked bikes rock!

Whoa... that Z1000 looks absolutely sick... especially with the bar-end mirrors and Jardine pipes! Good luck on the sale!

Thanks,

had to put the carbon fiber pipes on... the stockers are way too heavy. I am dying to upgrade the turbo in my STi so thats why the Z1k is on the auction block... I get way more comments on the bike than the car so I am kinda torn about parting with it. Who knows.

I have a Tuono....fantastic bike....my 3rd Aprilia and they're great bikes. Never been on an MV but by all accounts they are amazing too. You can get a Tuono for much cheaper though.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have been looking a little more into the MV situation and it looks like it would be near impossible to get my hands on one in the near future.

Low J, how is the tuono on maintenance?

Low J, how is the tuono on maintenance?

No probs......the 1000cc Aprilia's are really reliable...never had a problem. They've been making the same motor in it for nearly 10 years and they've got it perfected. All you'll need to worry about is routine maintenance. Costs aren't that much more than a japanese bike too. The only drawback is that if you need parts there's usually a longer wait to get them.
