I was driving around this morning and I was going over a mountain that's pretty curvy and nice to drive fast on. I was going slow because the roads were wet and my car is a POS. Two motorcycles came speeding up from behind at 100 plus the first guy stopped 5 or 6 feet short of running into the back of my car. And his handlebars were shaking like he was about to lose it. I pulled over to the side as far as I could and waved him to pass and he drops two gears and guns it and he lost traction about a foot away from my drivers side rear tire. He had the tires spinning and he almost lost it somehow he saved it and he passed by me so close he almost clipped my mirror. Then the other guy passed and wheelied to far over and he almost went over backwards and there was a car coming in the other direction that he almost hit. I saw them pulled over talking at the bottom of the mountain and they were only 16 or 17 with just shorts and sleeveless shirts on but at least they had helmets on. They were on 2005ish literbikes.
You didn't almost run over a motorcycle. An idiot on a motorcycle almost ran into you... don't feel bad you did the right thing by pulling over. They won't last long since Karma will come kicking and screaming soon.

I remember in Italy and guy came around a corner towards me and my family, he lost it and ended up going off into some shrubs. I think everything was fine though, he had gear on.

stuff like this jacks up our insurance for our liter bikes. i dont drive mine like a grandpa, but ive been riding for a long time and worked my way up to a 1000. started off on a ninja 250, then cbr 600 f4( which is currently up for sale if anyone is interested) and now zx10r. stealerships should stop bein so money hungry and stop selling literbikes to every 16 year old n00b that walks in. sorry for the rant and advertisement

With the economy the way it's been; They'd sell a Busa to a eleventeen y/o as long as they got the $$$ out of it. But I do agree they're should be some sort of law against it. Unless you're Josh Herrin:
I would never supprt any restrictions on who can ride what....I'm just for common sense.
That's kind of an oxy moron because the majority of people that want a liter bike as their first bike whilst riding with no gear tend to be younger and have less common sense. So if the lower the age= the higher risk for lower common sense then age should be a consideration as far as restriction.

it's sturgis week here and i've almost hit someone on a bike every year because they go too fast into the switchbacks and slide into the oncoming lane.

Bottom line, the gov should never tell us what you can and can't do.
I think it's stupid to not wear a helmet let alone riding gear from head to toes, however it pisses me off that by LAW I have to wear one, same for seat belts, I'd never drive a car with out one, however its the law to wear it.
Just like buying bikes, there should never be a law in place that says what you can and cant buy. Maybe have some major forms to fill out, all reading DANGER, CHANCES OF YOU KILLING YOURSELF ON A SUPERSPORT BIKE ARE HIGH, BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Too many places are quick to sell the hottest bike to anyone with the money, the cost of a 600 supersport and a 1000 really isn't that much different, you're talking about 2-3K
in japan you have to pass a test and have so much riding before you can go up to literbikes. that would help out insurance some, but people would still ride 1000s

I agree with you on that. My post above that one shows that. I'm just saying that there should be some limitations and restrictions. Not applying to every age but it shouldn't be nearly as easy as it is to hop on a liter bike. (see below)

This is exactly what I mean. Some stricter regulations would be good. Jeffie I know you preach the idea of not hopping on a gsxr whether it's a 600 or a liter bike as a noob and I agree 100% with that idea.

In American, most of the jackasses you see doing the really stupid **** don't even have the bike tagged let alone have a license. People who do have tags bend them under so you can't see them and half of the time the tag isn't legit anyways.
Every time I've been pulled over I've handed over my license, everytime I say the same thing, I bet you're suppressed I have one and they laugh and say yeah.
Putting strict laws or "class restrictions" into place will only hurt (cost money) to people like myself who care about riding.
Just like banning guns, doesn't matter if you can't have them. the people who use them for bad will get them anyways. I put money on it, if people couldn't buy the bike they want with out having the right license, you would see stolen bikes all over the place.
There are already stolen bikes all over the place......lojack ftw
Yeah, lots of them are used by jackasses, just think how many MORE would be on the streets if people who did have money couldn't buy one? There would be a whole new market for high dollar low mile turn key bikes.
