Default Yay I'm so excited I had to make a post about it here.

So last night me and pops were talking about motorcycles. Now the summer before I joined the Air Force my dad bought a bike. 2005 Kawasaki Concours 1000. Very lovely bike. Enough power to beat the 600's straight line (if they are noobs) and light enough to throw in the twisties and have a great time.

Now that summer I spent almost 7k miles on this bike and my dad offered it to me free of charge since he's looking to upgrade to a Goldwing. I heard him say this and was like oh word. So I am really at a loss of words but came here to tell my story. So with that in the garage, my wife's G35 coming soon, my Z and then I plan to purchase a ZX-14 sometime at the end of next year. Garage is going to be a bit full. So many toys so little time.

Thanks for the listen.

Let me say what you just said but change it up so car people can relate to it.

I just got a fun car, it's a Nissan 350Z, it's a great car and it can hang with dodge vipers (with a noob driving the viper)

Sorry to bust your bubble but a 600 in a straight line will kick your bikes ass left and right all day long even with noob riders, as long as they can pull the throttle and shift at the top of the rpm range, you're toast.

congrats on the free bike, its a good bike, just don't think too much of it.

2005 Kawasaki Concours 1000 is rated at 595lbs DRY weight.
600s are 360ish dry weight.

the 1000s seem to put down around 87-93RWP

the 600s of early 2000s put down about 95-98WHP and of today they can put down as much as 115-120WHP

again, no chance in hell unless the noob rider falls off the bike or runs it straight into a tree or wall SV650 youtube style.

My father rode a Concours as well. He ended up trading it in for a Yamaha FJR. My impression of the Concours was that it was an ugly bike, but a free bike is a free bike!

Sorry sorry no pics. But to answer some questions and comments.

I'm in Misawa.

Jeffie: The bike was designed for low end-mid range power. The 600's only make power stupid high. So the launch on a 600 with a noob doesn't mix. If they roll off the clutch too much they are likely to win burning their clutch up. But if they roll off too fast, they rip the front wheel up and back off the throttle and by then I'm touching 65-70. That bike's could launch at 9k easily all day. This is from direct results from the track. Also my buddies SV650 and I were dead even on every run we did. That bike is much easier to launch then the 600's and makes some low end torque.

erichsherill: Definitely mil to mil. Also they do not allow cars from the states here in Japan so they will automatically ship 2 vehicles to my next base. TMO my wifes vehicle then buy the G at the next base. We ball like that.

SV's are slow in a straight line, trust me I own one. If you ran with an SV then like Jeffie said a retard on a 600SS would destroy you.

NoWin, don't take it the wrong way- people here are happy for you getting the bike, I just think you're underestimating the newer crop of 600cc supersports.

Post pics when you get them.

no, my 250 is slow in a straight line

but like everyone is saying, theres no way you're gonna keep up with a 600. Your bike is heavier and has about the same power as a 600 sportbike.

Because he said something really stupid.

Again, its like saying your 350Z can easily beat a 911 turbo IF the 911 turbo driver is a noob,

hell, even if the driver is a noob you'd still get owned.

People for some reason assume just because they have a bigger motor bike that makes a lot of torque, they can some how manage to keep up with 600s.

He managed to get a good bike, there's nothing wrong with the bike. but hell, my Mercedes C350 sport is a kick ass car but there's still no way in hell it's going to touch a BMW 335I
