...A source said the owner of the bike had caught up with the rider, pulled out the stake and punched him on the nose before taking his wallet and reclaiming the motorcycle...
I'm confused by the article. It says the man who was impaled was robbed and assaulted, but I thought he stole the motorcycle? Or are the saying the man who had his bike stolen robbed the guy by taking his wallet?

Looks like Guy A, stole the bike, wrecked, got impaled by a garden stake. Guy B was the owner of the motorcycle, caught up to guy A after the wreck, pulled the stake out, punched the theif in the nose, then stole his wallet. Lesson, don't steal!
