The Texas Tornado and the Texas Terror will be teammates on the Tech 3 Yamaha MotoGP team. There has been tons of speculation over this for the past few weeks after Spies signed a 2 year contract extension with Yamaha. With Spies currently holding the lead in the WSBK championship would he stay another year and ride the WSBK spec R1 or go to Tech 3 and ride the M1? It looks as though everything is all but put in ink right now.
I wonder what DORNA is going to do about having no British riders on the grid... BBC is a huge financial sponser for them, and with no rider from their country, I wonder if the company would still want to drop sponsorship cash into the GP...
Can't wait to have Spies on the grid though. Yamaha seems to be getting a lot of talent on their factory and satelite teams. Gotta wonder how this will affect the teams though, having so many competitive riders who all want to be number 1. Rossi and Jorge already have a wall built up in their garage...
This deffinently would lend more weight to the rumor of Rossi leaving Yamaha in 2011 and finishing up his career with Ducati. Would be amazing if he were to get another world title under a 3rd manufacturer.

I hope Spies made the right decision... And got "green" to switch teams instead of owning WSBK for another year.
Oahu, I think the Yamaha "plan" was to ultimately set up a Spies/Rossi team within a few years of switching around riders. Of course this is secondhand hearsay, I don't know for sure.
True, but Rossi is already unhappy with having Lorenzo as the other Yammy factory rider... After Jorge signed for another year with Yamaha, he spoke out about his feelings of having two rather than one "lead" rider for a factory team. I bet he'd feel the same way if Spies was teamed up with him.

EIGHT-TIME motorcycle World Champion Valentino Rossi has spoken of his disppointment at Yamaha's decision to extend Jorge Lorenzo's contract.
Rossi has admitted he's not chuffed by the decision, stating that it's unusual for a team to have two major players in the same squad:
“Usually the big manufacturers in the last years have always just one top rider each. In Yamaha, we are two … so this is a different strategy that can bring good results, but also big disaster,” said Rossi, in an exclusive interview at Misano.
“I always try to make a great work for developing the bike, and I usually make the work just for me. But now I am also doing it for my worst enemy,” he said, tongue-in-cheek.
“Sincerely, I think I don’t deserve this after what I have done for Yamaha. But this is the Yamaha choice …
“I have to decide about my future with motorcycles at the beginning of June next year – whether I will continue, whether it will be with Yamaha or if I change …" said Rossi, hinting at a move to F1.
“Before I never thought of going out of Yamaha, but now with this situation with Lorenzo, I have to make a decision,” he said.
And we all know what happened when Rossi got the hump with Honda back in 2003...
