Default Possible first bike?

Likely not going to be able to afford anything for awhile, but I really love Triumph Bonnevilles. Anyone had any experience with these? It seems like most of the posters in the forum are drawn to sport bikes, which are cool, but not really what I'm looking for. I was hoping to eventually pick one of these up on the used market, but not sure what you guys think about it for a first bike - maybe I ought to be looking at something with a smaller engine? I would mostly be using it for the wife and I to zip around Manhattan during the months of April-November, as either a bike or a scooter are incredibly practical in the city as far as parking and expense goes (forget about a car unless you has teh $$) Anyhow, would really appreciate any advice you could throw my way. Thanks. E

Also, I'm 6'4" - that could matter as far as my options go.

Not a bad bike... If you know how to ride and know not to do anything crazy (which lots of sport riders do) then I'd suggest something smaller. But it's a cool looking bike IMO. Maybe take some class first... then go for the one you want. Just remember to wear your gears and especially hers. Ride safe
