We need a change - "Use Search Option" replies are Annoying
WE NEED A CHANGE CORRECTION: "Use the search option" in an open thread is, and should be known, as a violation to Terms OF Use, TOU #8, a meaningless posts to users that are interested, and or engaged in replied posts within thread. "Use the search option" is the most annoying reply. It's pretty much like saying, "been there, done that", which annoys the hell out of me, and I'm sure others as well. Lets talk about who these people are: They clicks on topics that they already know the answer to, and instead of helping people like a normal user would, they waste their energy and post to say, "USE THE SEARCH OPTION." WHY DO THEY DO THIS, I ASK? Are they just bored and have no life, but to click on all the new topics of the day? Or, maybe their goal is to have the highest number of posts? Perhaps, it's just plain arrogence - Is this their way of saying "I'm Mr. Know it All, check out my millimeter stick?" Instead of being the arrogant user, why don't they just ignore the topic and move on. The Tech Area is for helping people, and learning things you might have not known. The last thing it needs is a smart ass comment when some of the people are already stress out as it is, trying to find a solution. Lets face the facts; This is a place where people with the same interests get together to talk about all kinds of topics, for entertainment, researching, and utilizing the classified section. User's and hits, are what keeps these site going, or untill the day all the Z's on the road become exstinct. Besides, the database only holds so much data as the months goes by filling them with posts. Then, the oldest ones disappear, making more room for more posts. So for all the user's who uses this annoying "use search" reply, I'm afraid I have bad news for you people - this isn't a 350z encyclopedia where answers are stored forever, allowing you to keep searching for your answers. We have real people who log in everyday and can help us answer our questions. This is not a 350z search engine. No question is a stupid question. With that being said, No topic can only be discussed once.

It's still not as annoying as seeing the same question over and over again.
Next time I'll be nice and let them suck on my teet to nurture them.

For all you nerds on here with over thousands of post, with his 350z myspace page. Everyone was once a novice at one point or another, when they first became interested in Z'z. The only reason i can think of that explain this childish behavior from you guys - You girls must of got it hard through grade school. Girls laughing at you for being so dam gay and nerdy. Now, it's time for you guys to hate the world and hide behind that computer all day, clicking on every single dam posts. The normal user clicks on interesting topics. We skip over a lot of posts and focus on the ones we logged on for. But you guys on the other hand, have no life so you spend countless hours on this site and have the attitude of, fuc the world..and pretend to be someone that you're not. I bet if I searched your history posts on here, I bet I'll find some dumb ass "noob" questions.

Seriously, you fail. You are the exact example of why people hate americans. Youre too lazy to find the answer..........you want it spoon fed to you. You get OFFENDED when someone tells you to search. Did you contact your lawyer like a good liberal american? I mean, someone offended you, you have the right to compensation.
Then you go making two threads about the same crap......rehashing = breaking the TOU. If you cant make it on these boards then go elsewhere.........life isnt meant to be easy. Try to make the best of it and stop whining. go search for some initiative. Youve been here for almost a year now, you should know your way around the boards by now. BTW personal attacks on members like the post above........FTL. Im not attacking you, more like calling you out. Last edited by Chris @ Migliore; 08-16-2008 at 12:15 PM. |

I agree with both sides.
On one hand, as the new guy, he/she is only trying to find an answer to his/her question, which is perfectly fine. Reading a reply that tells them to search can be frustrating and will not motivate one to come back. It can be very discouraging and will the posts will read harsh. On the other hand, the older (and hopefully more knowledgeable) members see these same questions all the time. It does get quite annoying after reading hundreds upon hundreds of threads regarding the same exact topic. That's why they tell the new guys to search. It's also good practice, as it teaches them to not rely on others for answer and instills better habits. With that said, it would behoove everybody if the new users would search until they find an answer (I guarantee that 99% of the answers can be found) instead of giving up after a few misses they had on the search engine. Likewise, it would behoove everybody if the older users would just ignore instead of replying with the annoying "search" posts, since it will encourage the new guys to search for themselves once they see nobody cares enough to answer their simple "which is the best intake" question.

Wouldn't it be more logical to just ignore the question, & go on reading other posts? Let the ignoramuses-about-mechanics ask all they want--I'm one!
Be nice, guys! |

I really do not understand why it is so hard for people to do research on there car. There are other mediums...books, Best Motoring Vol 6 The 350 Z shock, and Magazines to find a vast amounts of info on your Z. No offense op but this has been the way I have found info on any of my cars before I got involved on a web forum.

This board is not my life as the way you put it. I could care less "making it" on this site. You got issues if you think this is life on here. Perfect example of a person with no life, who spends all his free time on the computer.

Guys, let's try to be more civil toward one another. Try to sympathize with the opposing side, rather than strictly enforcing your own view upon others. Both sides have a valid point and are both entitled to their own opinions. There's absolutely no reason for disparaging another person, which, by the way, defeats the purpose of this site.

haha. You fail so bad you cannot even quote people properly.
3hree5ive0ero (spelled right this time....copy/paste FTW) anyway, youre right. We should just ignore them and let them whither away. Only issue there is theyll keep bumping their thread and then get pissed and bash the forum for not answering their question. I wish i had the link to the top 100 question thread at the top of every page so i could post it in threads that deem it necessary. What sucks it what were doing now doesnt work, noobs will still post meaningless crap or dumb questions even thoughtheyre greeted with the messege "Be Sure to use the Search feature first, as the topic may have been posted already." as you try to make a new post. |

wow, all this over another person's laziness and not using a search. honestly, you are new member and you decided to ask a question concerning exhaust/intakes/ wheel sizes, etc and you figure that since this forum has been around since the car has existed, common sense would tell you that maybe, just maybe, your question has been asked and answered already.
but here is the reality. 99% of these n00bs do not even make the effort to use the search function (even though they "claim to do so") because they do not feel like reading through 10+ pages and actually learning something, instead, they feel they need to make another thread asking the same question to get a fast answer, which will end up in those 10+ pages of the same question asked over and over again. it is a vicious cycle that never ends unless the mods put a stop to it immediately. you see a repeat. the intake/exhaust section had this going good for a while by immediately closing repeat, redundant questions. but lately that has stopped so now we got like 20+ questions on "which exhaust is better, what intake should i buy", etc.
