Default Thinking about cams...

So I was thinking since I am going to have the valve cover gaskets and an intake spacer put in, cams wouldn't be that much more work since it'll already be there basically...

I searched and found a few good ideas on cams, like the nismo, jwt and stillens...

Anyone give me some recommendations for good NA cams to run, nothing super aggressive...and how much more work is involved?

thanks

Nah, even though I have in the past (sr20), but I'll let my mechanic do the work. I am just wondering if its worth doing for like 15hp gain...

You and only you could decide that. Figure that you'll be spending at the very least $1000 and thats if you get cheap labor rates from your mechanic and find yourself a good deal on the camshafts themselves.

You'd have to get a tune to run any cams, so if you were going to get everything done at RT Tuning, you might as well look into a reflash as well. Would prob have to bump the idle up a little too, but again, could be done with a reflash.

That said, something like 268s or 272s, Tomei or JWT, would be your best bet. You'd probably get something along the lines of 20whp at the peak with the intake spacer.

Even though you changed your mind. JWT's C2 cams are AMAZING street cams. Not really any noticeably bad lope at idle. None of the stalling/shitty driveability that you get with some more aggressive cams. And they give great increases all through the powerband.

If it's more of a track car than a DD, I would suggest the C8/C8R JWT's. They SCREAM from 4800 up.
