Fixxxercask, What thickness did you end up using with the pipes and sheets?

1/8"

I plan on doing some more work tomorrow on it. I am cutting everything off I've done and starting over. This is proving to be pretty tough, but I will get there.

So I scrapped my first plenum. It was proving to be a dead end and I didn't plan it out well enough from the start. Started on a 2nd much more simpler design. It is similar to the one someone posted in the thread earlier. The only difference is that I am not going to put the TB all the way down where OEM filter sits. I will find a way to get it to fit near OEM location. Here is what I have so far.

I liked where you were going with the first one, doesn't seem like you will have enough clearance with the second one

I am concerned about the clearance with this one as well. I might cut some of the sheet metal out around the brake booster area and all that. I've been wanting to do that anyway for a long time to cut some more weight. I hate how cramped these engine bays are.

Question, since you have the most experience with the uprev, and bigger throttle body.

Is it possible to tune with the uprev to make a bigger tb work, or is it just not doable?

I definitely do not have the most experience with Uprev. I am a newb at best.

The only reason I chose this TB was because I heard the internals of it are made by the same company (hitachi) and they should work without too much change.

Other TB's though I would think would prove to be a lot more work. If I had the extra cash right now, I would probably go full stand alone.

What, in your opinion, is the sticking point to getting the uprev to work with this tb?
Does it, the uprev, run out of parameters to set, or ????? I agree, stand alone would be great if it weren't so expensive.

To be honest after fiddling with it a bunch, there really isn't anything in TB that needs changed. Well, after I figured out that I had wiring problem and corrected that, I set the TB table back to normal since all the changes I had previously made were for nothing since it was a wiring issue the whole time.

The only outstanding issue that I have with it is getting it to idle on cold starts. I am not sure what I am going to do about that yet. I will cross that bridge once I get this plenum done.

That is good news! Getting it to run in all other conditions with only a cold idle problem is a success in my book. Good job. Looks like you have cracked the code for doing this with the UpRev instead of a stand alone setup.

I hope you don't mind if I send you a few more questions via PM on this........thanks.

Sorry no updates on this lately. I put it on hold for the last so many weeks and did a bunch of suspension work. Had to tear down most of the rear suspension to install the last of my SPL bushings. The entire car now has all SPL including subframe and diff. Also just added the SPL titanium camber and traction arms and had to replace one of the rear wheel bearings. Suspension is all back together.

I just got back from a much needed vacation in Mexico away from this frozen tundra like weather here in Ohio. Finishing this intake is number 1 priority now. I need to man up and battle the cold and get cracking on it again.

Making more progress. Got the 2nd pipe cut and most of the way welded. The 2nd pic: the test fitting of the TB. Flange and TB both fit. I am going to have to notch a tiny bit out of the hood framing for the hood to shut. Shouldn't be too much though because it almost shuts all the way now. Going out in the garage here in a bit to work on it some more.

Thanks!

Getting there. Got the flange tached onto the pipe to test fit intake piping. I finally feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Also, ordering cams, springs and retainders on Friday.

Be prepared to order a few buckets, and a feeler gauge.
