New ZR owner, '09 Nogaro Red
I'm checking in as a new 350Z owner. Previously I drove an S14 240SX for 15 years and kept it great, nearly stock shape. I've didn't need a car in downtown Chicago for the last few years, and since a move to SoCal, a new car was in order!
I looked at SL500's, Camaros, Porsche, Jag, 3 series, 1 series...but kept coming back to read about Z's. I prefer the look of the ZR's to the coupe, and wanted to try owning a convertible. Finally found a clean '09 ZR 6MT with 26k miles after months of searching and 3 missed opportunities of others cars (called to purchase and found it just sold).
Thank you for the knowledge, and I hope to contribute here and run into some of you at some Z meets!

Thanks everyone for the comments!
While shopping, I can't tell you how many cars were mislabeled as grand touring, touring, or enthusiast by the dealerships and private sellers. If I couldn't tell visually from their pictures, the VIN decoder on this site was a great help, especially to prove to the seller if they were overcharging for their "grand touring" which was really a touring. Then again, some dealers didn't seem to know those orange calipers meant more than just some paint

I used Thomas Sunday enclosed auto transport. I would recommend them, and will certainly use them again. Small company, just a few trucks so they always know where your car is. Total "white glove" type service. Plastic on the seats and floormats, individually covered inside the truck from drips and dust on top of the whole truck being enclosed, fabric straps instead of metal chains around the tires...
Trouble is with so few trucks it may be 2-4 weeks before they can pick you up. The driver told me what he's been carrying. Porsche GT3's, some concourse cars, classic race cars, exotics. Super friendly guy.
Price was slightly better than the other enclosed carriers, but there are others with great reputations as well.

Thanks. I checked them out, they have some pretty good reviews. I think it's great they actually own the trucks and you don't have to go through a 3rd party.

We did the Japutul loop in Cleveland National Forest. Not very intense , but we really just wanted to go to Alpine Brewery in Alpine, and the loop ends there. There are a few nice twisty parts.
Mountain scenery was nice. Beer was delicious. Just plan for time to sober up!

That sounds pretty fun, I have not been down that way with my car yet but just up the 79 to the 78 and also the 76 coming south from oceanside. Lots of twisties there too. I'm not really a beer fan lol but I agree, going through the mountains here is a very nice and relaxing time
