New 2006 350z Owner
I'm a proud new owner of a 2006 350z. Paid $6k for it, only has 75,000 miles on it. Came here looking for some information and tips on how to best care, maintain, and modify it. I have a nice Kenwood stereo deck to throw in there and I plan on running some LED light strips inside and out. Not really looking to turn it into a race car, I mostly just want to make it look as good as possible. Looking for recommendations on body kits and stuff, and just general care for the car, I want to make sure this lasts me another 125,000 miles.

oil change every 3k miles with 5w30 full synthetic.
the z is very reliable and low maintenance in cost.
if you want the best fitment and looks in terms of body kits, go to shine autos website http://www.shineautoproject.com/
they have body kits for the 350z, basically 100% close fitment, and they have a lot of quality body kit pieces for the Z.

^^^ Ditto.
As far as maintenance goes, as Justin said, regular oil changes using good oil (pick your synthetic poison) and...
What I tell anyone with any "new-used" car, get (or do) a Stage 0 (baseline) on the car. That means fluids front-rear using the proper fluids (see below), check brakes + R&R as needed, air filter(s), maybe spark plugs but if it's running fine, this is optional.
Purpose is for peace of mind and knowing exactly when all the fluids were done (unless car has current and comprehensive service records).
Most Recommended Fluids:
- Radiator/coolant - OEM Nissan Long Life Coolant #L248SP
- Engine oil - not gonna open this can of worms but go with a "good" synthetic in weights according to your service/owner's manual according to where you live. (FWIW, I use Mobil-1 0-40.
- Brake & Clutch fluids - choose your brand of good DOT 4
- Transmission - Synthetic Redline MT-85 (most recommended fluid due to it containing the correct blend of friction modifiers for best synchro operation (or factory OEM fluid) - 6MT transmission
OR Nissan Matic-J (supersedes Matic-S, which is OK too) for auto. trans.
- Rearend - Nissan OEM fluids are fine; use spec according to service/owner's manual.

thanks guys, this has been really helpful. I do have a couple things I need to add to the car. It still has the stock stereo deck which sucks, but I had a spare Kenwood at home to put in it, looking to find out how to do it myself, don't really want to drop in $158 to get it installed if I can avoid it. Also have to replace a headlight, but the headlight came with the car, just need to figure out how to put it in.
