Default New owner 03' Track edition but....

Warmest greetings everyone!
I am the sorta (very mad at myself) proud owner of a 2003 350z track edition with tasteful mods as of yesterday! Here is the break down of the car:

2003 350z track edition (manual)
Color: Black but last owner respray and it is very poor spray
Z1 grounding kit
Nismo Catback exhaust
Brembo upgrade (front and back)
Rays wheels (CURB DAMAGE on all wheels) 18 FR 19x10 BACK (different)
TEIN lowering springs (almost slammed but is nice)
SRI
clean title
binder full of maint. records!! Could not believe it.
Here is where everyone will fuss:
mileage - 151k
1 key (top is broken may I add)
1 transmitter

I beat this young kid down on the price. I should have known something was up. It needed tires and a I think a clutch. So what. I figured this would be a small project. I looked at it last weekend and just picked up last night.

This morning I started it up and it decides to idle really rough. It was not doing that last night. Drove it a bit and notice while turning, it was clicking on the drivers side!!! It did not do it last night!! I was so upset! OMG

I took it to the stealership for a once over and they took me to the back.
Here is what they immediately noticed:
1. LOWER CONTROL ARM drivers side busted $641.00 each!!
2. LOWER CONTROL ARM passenger side is next
3. A/C compressors weak and will die soon - $1000
4. Clutch is about gone but they wont do it without changing flywheel! - starting $1000!!!

At this point, I want to punch this kid in the face but really punch myself in the face. I should have taken it to the dealer before I bought it. I feel really dumb.

At anyrate, my plans are to change the brakes/rotors, sparkplugs, fluids, oil, and attempt to do the lower control. Not sure where I can get clutch/flywheel. I see they are expensive.

Any advice would be great on a nice competitive product on a budget.

Sigh I digress....

Regards

Bush

This is her, 03 Track....

this is what happens when your Z is too low!!! How would I repair?

Looks bad huh?

How much did you get it for? MODS don't add value but from pics above it looks good.

Don't you dare pay that much for LCA......I can get Moog jointed ones through worldpac for $80/piece. and they'd take you 20 minutes per side to install. I have a flex pipe I can sell you cheap and ship as well. Clutch...........if you ain't familiar with changing one it's not hard, specially on an 03. But that's up to you. Can get a stage 1 exedy for 200 or I know of a stage 3 XTD for sale as well. AC compressor costs you $1000????? In what world? lol I also have a spare for sale.........replace it and then take it to AC shop to get charged. Shoot me a text if you want to! 9197408509. I can help you out a lot on this as I HATE dealerships and their overpriced ********.

Those prices were installed at dealer. Still crazy. Then they would have to order parts. Full of crap. Where are you located? I am in SC.

Sorry I was playing Drive Club ....
That is very nice of you. I actually work in Wilmington during the week so you are not that far!

Only thing is I could not possibly drive the Z to you on this busted control arm. It will barely get to 60 mph without sounding like the car will collapse!

I may have to take you up on the clutch regardless. That is a steal!!! I was just about to order a complete kit + flywheel for almost $800 and just pay someone to put it in.
I wont even go to dealer for a keychain man!

I did put some tires on her today. My buddy runs a shop and he gets good deals on tires.

see:

This is the driver's side. The passenger side is not too far about to come loose. <br/>

Yeah that ball joint aint looking good. Not seeing where it's broken though? Did they show you or am I just missing it? Or is it literally the ball joint about to break out of its socket? (hard to imagine but possible) No problem bud, I'm a mobile mechanic, and I work well on Z's cause I had one and am currently re-doing one from the tailplate to the trunk plates, to the floor pans, to the engine and front grille. And everything in between, i know the cars top to bottom lol. Lemme know a good weekend for you and I'll see if it's an off weekend. Can also get you a hook up for those parts a helluva lot cheaper and walk you through installing one if you want so you can drive it around safely. Like I said, you got my cell # lol.

I think i have another pic but it is not even connected really. I was trying to look at and snap at the stealership. It is scary when the mechanic says he never done one before and says yeah that will be $600 to fix. HUH?

I am HAPPY AS A BUCKET OF KITTENS i got your number.
I will lock your number in your phone and we can come up with a plan.
Thank you x 10.

UPDATE:

Well ordered all the parts I thought I needed thanks to the stealership.
My buddy and I jacked the car up and looked and low and behold I did not need lower control arms. Just the balljoints (common) on both sides. CrossDrilled and slotted rotors/ceramic pads installed.
Changed the plugs, clutch (going in before end of week), valve cover gaskets. Other than that, that was it! Dont listen to the dumb stealerships!!

Thanks to everyone who gave advice.

- Bush

are you sure that the lower inner control arm bushing isnt blown, that may be why they stated it needed to be replaced

if it looks like this, then it is blown
