Man, would have been nice to have gotten mine since I'm the 3rd owner, but I didn't see this thread in time. Oh well.

Default COA still available

Good news... the COAs are still available!

With the help of Wai Cheong Lam from the Nismo Owners group on Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/532484266787116 ) I got my certificate this week!

I called Nissan USA and a very helpful Nissan rep named Leo helped me process my request for the COA. He gave me his direct extension and told me it would be fine if others from this group called him directly to process their request. Just call 800-647-7261. Option 7 will get you past the menu to a human rep, then ask for Leo at extension 457391.

You will need to fax or email proof of registration and proof of residency at the address that is on your car registration. (I provided an electric bill.) Feel free to use my case number (17409799) in case Leo is not available and they don't know what you're talking about. Once I sent them my paperwork I had my COA in hand, via FedEx, just 3 days later.

Good luck!

Is it important to have a COA? I don't know if my son had one for #1277.

Important in what way?
Proving its authenticity doubt it. Ut it sure looks nice sitting on my mantle. May help fetch few more bucks if resold.

They should have been issued to the original owner. Theres a process folks have gone through to get one after the fact. Myself included. Should help resell as cool points but wouldnt expect much.

I've started the process, but they want the serial number, not the vin. Where do I find the serial number and how many numbers or letters is it?

The serial number is the number on the plaque, In the car, Next to the shifter.

That's what I thought it was so I gave that to them from memory. Then told the REO I would have to call back after she told me it wasn't correct. I got home and asked her where it was located, she then told me in the 370 is it located behind the seat.... And there is her problem I told her it was a 350 and she recorded 370. Hope this doesn't delay the process.

I posted the question prior to calling back when I got home. Kinda made me look like a sped

Wait, what?

A pic of "0-0-0-0"????????????????

Awesome, non-existent Nismo!!

But ya, hear tell that there is/was such a car (a Nissan corporate "show" car, never sold) and that it's either been:

1. Locked away in a Nissan warehouse somewhere, a la the ark of the covenant.

or...

2. Crushed.

Depends on what forum you read it on.

Got another update today. I figured with the holidays there was going to be a delay. They finally requested proof of ownership. I sent that in today so we will see how long until the next update

Call 800-647-7261, select Option for a human rep and ask for Leo at extension 457391. If you can't get ahold of Leo, you may have luck using this case number "17409799." Let them know you're calling regarding obtaining your Certificate of Authenticity.
