I had to inform the California Highway Patrol man that my car was a special edition blah blah blah and it is a stock exhaust. (He gave me a ticket for window tint instead.)
Does anyone else have this problem? I've only had my car 4 months and I've been pulled over 4 times. I've been asked to pop the hood, rev the engine, all sorts of stupid things. Do I need to put a sticker on the back window explaining the Nismo Z?
When I was pulled over for not wearing my seat belt (yes, I said I was pulled over for the egregious, dangerous, highly lethal to others violation of not wearing my seat belt), the cop grilled me on whether the exhaust, body kit, or ride height are legal even though I said several times that the car comes that way from the factory. She threatened to measure my ride height (I'm still on stock springs) but she let me go because "she decided to be nice" (direct quote).

wow, all this crap doesn't sound to pleasing to be a hobbiest in california.
Yes this crap with cops messing with imports has been going on in SoCal since the early 90's. Some cops are pretty cool and they are fellow enthusiast. Most are jerks and they know you have money to pay for a ticket.
Op just go see the judge with on your court date and explain that to him. It is pointless to argue with the cops.

I feel the same way, only for me it's the whole no front license plate issue. That has got to be the most useless excuse to pull somebody over.
