What else do I need with Nitrous besides the Maximizer
Okay, so I am looking into nitrous. I can get a decent deal on a NX maximizer that aloows me to progressivley add nitrous which is safer. And I am looking at a Import NX kit which seems pretty safeif kept under a 75 shot. Do I need anything else besides the Maximizer to be safe. Do I even need a window switch to cut off nitrous at high RPMs? What else do I need to be safe without spending a ton of money?
I am a newb when it comes to nitrous, what is a purge? Is that the same thing as the nozzle that makes nitrous shoot out the side of the car. And do I need a tune? I just installed an SAFC but am having problems with it and considering taking it off.
purge is what you see in the movies (spraying N2O from a nozzle outside of the car)...the purpose of it is to clear the line of N2O that has come to ambient temp (colder = more dense N20 & proper ratio to fuel). I think ppl usually say it'd worth .1-.2 seconds in the 1/4 mile.
Depending on what you have to tune with, a tune would be good. I'm planning on putting my car on a dyno to make sure my A/F are nice and safe...if I need to adjust anything, I'll probably change jet #'s to get it into the range I want.
A window switch might be a smart buy...if you spray, loose traction, and accidental keep spraying while bouncing off the rev limiter, really bad things could happen!
nitrous is very safe when used correctly, it is also very temperamental because of pressure, the maximizer will let the nitrous come in a certain point and at a certain level. this point and level can be adjusted to not let your tires spin. no spinning equals faster times. like mentioned above, you will need a bottle heater(to get the pressure right), an electic gauge, a remote bottle opener (if you dont want to have to go and open the bottle every time you use it) and finally a TPS switch...
all very simple stuff and will have you running 11s in no time!!!
I've done tons of research on nitrous as I'm also considering an install. From what I've heard, learned and seen, a 100 shot is the max you should go without requiring any internal upgrades.
