Default Connecting the solenoids to the UTEC?

How would I connect the utec to the nitrous solenoids. I have read the part in the manual where it shows the pins for the spare solenoid control. It says to connect pin #7 to the solenoid or control unit..that part I understand..but what I dont understand is that they want me to connect a 12v power source to the solenoid as well...doing that it would keep the nitrous solenoids always on which is not good. The only sense i can make of it is if you are using a meth injection kit or a solenoid that requires a power, ground, and a signal wire to operate.

Do I just ignore the the 12v power source and just connect the red wire/pin # 7 to the solenoids?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
