Default Largest shot on an HR?

I know this is a noobish post, but i'm curious and didn't see it mentioned anywhere. I know i've seen people do a 125 shot on a stock-block HR motor, and i'm sure people have done 150's. Anyone go higher than that?

I know some of the turbo guys are pushing 500wtq on stock block HR's, but I am not sure anyone has really logged the miles to adequately test the limits on them. 150 shot on a bolt-on/tune HR is likely to make 450-470+wtq...............I would think that to be more than enough.

I know what it will do on a 150, i'm just wondering if a shop or someone has really pushed it. 200+ I think would be safe enough if setup correctly, obviously with proper tuning to soften the hit and possibly higher octane fuel at that level of power. Seeing the stock block TT cars at almost 600whp on real gas makes me wonder what is possible.

Wheel torque is what you should be focusing on. That is the standard by which most use in terms of parts threshold. The instant hit of tq associated with nitrous is far more brutal than turbo apps. I would say 500wtq is about all your going to do before failure. Can more be done..........sure, but why risk it.

I'm curious if anyones gone with something like a 200 progressive or two-stage shot, on either the HR or non-HR's. Really thought about it myself. Seems like it would relieve some of the problems with going with such a big shot, but you know, I dont wanna blow my motor first try, lols.

Thats why i'm asking, has anyone done it. I know what's possible. My car will get the bottle, just a nice little shot to wake it up at first, but before I spend a ton to go boost, I could set up a nice two-stage that would really make some serious power and wouldn't be too much of a sledgehammer blow to the motor.

even with a two stage, getting all that to the floor for a quarter mile still gonna cost serious money...

Ehh, it wouldn't be that hard. Good tires make things much simpler. Honestly, I could probably do some diff bushings, drag bags and slicks, spray about 250hp worth in two stages and dip way down into the 11's for very reasonable cost. The Z is basically my daily though, so thats further than I want to go

You could set that up (well, I could), for about a grand, assuming you find some cheap wheels.

Only thing I have against progressive, is that it is REALLY hard on the noids. Since i'm running a regular holley kit with standard Powershot noids, they aren't rebuildable, and if they fry it's $100 each to replace them. I drive/race too much for that. If I wanted to upgrade to the big noids that are rebuildable, i'd go progressive 150-200 shot.

Honestly, with a good tire/bolt-ons/tune/and 100 shot you could get into the 11's. A couple are close on DE's. 150 shot for certain. A 250 and a GREAT tire you could probably tap 10's with the correct set-up.

The thought has crossed my mind, but most on here would just flame or insult me, so I keep my mouth shut. I think mid 11's would be just fine.

I'll love it if it happens though, to hear all the hate for drag racing a Nismo too

right a grand...

If you got time can you price that out for a stock Z...

cause a 11 second car for just a thousand American us dollars needs to be shared with everyone...

you agree?

You're correct, I left out the tuning aspect, add $900 for Osiris. $2000.

I do all my own work, it's possible. Just have to be resourceful and creative. I could get the car into the 11's on a single stage kit, so thats under $300. Supporting mods are minimal, just test pipes really. Tires would be the hard part, finding good tires on rims for cheap, but I will at some point.

Only thing "track only" would be the tires. I've driven daily on real tires
