DETROIT METRO AREA Z'S: Bimmerforums Call-out

Hey guys,

I am on G35driver, and I occasionally frequent Bimmerforums.com.

I recently found a thread in which a few BMW 850i (298hp V12, also about 4100-4300lbs) owners claim that their cars are faster, top end, than DE/rev-up, and HR Z's. Personally, I find it hard to believe since the 850's are mid 15 second cars.

I know this may not be the most appropriate section, but I was hoping someone could meet up with the owner who served a "call-out" in the Detroit area.

Here's what he said:
Quote:
Hey jworms, you said you can arrange a race. I kindly offered Serg to find me a 350z owner here in the detroit metro area but he prefered using his theoretical facts and calculators instead. I will gladly accept the challenge if you can find me even an 07 350Z against an 850i 4spd auto and I am willing to video tape it. I just want to show those 350Z owners something they will regret after watching it. Bring it on
Cheers
This post is not meant to endorse street racing in anyway, but I thought you guys might find it funny. I'll post this in the regional threads too. Hopefully someone with ANY year Z (an HR would be fun) could meet up with him.

That thread was so pointless. Arguing about a racing at 150+ on a public freeway.....that's a great idea. Saying they would win because they don't have a speed limiter.....congrats....I guess. Also I love the bench racing going on. Just take the cars to the track and settle it, instead of showing how either car would win if you race from a roll that's started where it's power shines. No matter what happens though, I'm sure there will be a mountain of excuses. But wow that car makes no power for having such a huge engine. They also mentioned racing a Nissan that's the same age. I'm pretty sure that a 300ZX TT is almost that old, and would embarass that car, especially since they were talking about cars that aren't stock. I enjoy a nicely done BMW and I own a Z, but come on, mindless bickering with clearly one sided facts just makes both sides look stupid.

with that said, looking at the facts, I'm pretty sure a Z would win in most reasonable races(not 150 rolls).

Yeah, seriously. I've recently started going to that section because it's quite entertaining.

I think the 850 owner is getting this car dynoed soon, and he really should take to the the track. I love how they quote tuner provided dynos that show CRANK hp gains. It's a little ridiculous along with the fact that an 07/08 Z would leave them for dead. Bringing it into the comparison is just silly, kind of like saying the 850 will win when the 350z hits the speed limiter.

haha, we should get a few of us HR Z's to crush him. A video of him losing to multiple Z's would prove him wrong I think

I haven't tested it actually. I've hit a little over a hundred since I got it, and it's definitely up there in the rpm's at that point. Haha, I'll just hang with you until I run out of gears then!
