if you want to take good portrait shots, you are going to need a lens with a low aperture (1.2-2.8) The kit lens isn't going to cut it. Canon offers a prime 50mm f1.8 for a good price IIRC

The nice thing about digital is you can take 10 billion pictures and there's going to be at least one that turns out good!

I have low "picture quality" standards. I shoot for 1 "good" picture every 1000 taken.

NICE!!! I bought my wifey one of those not to long ago. It was a Sony but she loves everything about it. She brings it everywhere we go, but she is Asian so she looks like a tourist and I don't think anyone minds! Hahaha!
