Well if you take t1 at those higher speeds, then staying in 5th could work. But I'm not nearly as fast and take it near 85 - 90. The car doesnt always feel comfortable at 90 so sometimes I'm more in the 85ish range. And at this speed it seems better accelerating through it in forth. Err.. I dunno, I'm still learning and probably not driving as aggressively as I could.

Another turn that I go back and forth on is T2. Sometimes, I take it in 4th, but mostly, I take it in 3rd, then shift up at exit...only to have to shift back down for T3. I'm starting to think that 4th is the way to go, but ever since I lost my hotlap transmitter, I haven't timed my laps. It has been at least 2 years since I've recorded lap times.
I agree that using the entry of T2 to brake aggressively, and then hugging the inside line for T2 is faster. There seems to be more grip on the inside.
Buttonwillow is definitely a no go...I got a 5-month old infant and a rabid 3 year old that is very demanding. I'm counting myself lucky enough to just get most of the day off to go to Thill

Interesting...I never thought of taking it in 5th. But, it makes sense as the downshift adds another parameter to the approach of the turn that may hinder entry speed. I'm going to try it on April 1st, and will let you know how it goes.

We are at least 3 Zs in our group, but there are usually others as well. They will likely fill up, which is about 100 registered drivers.
Shouldn't be killer heat in just a few weeks! I was there to drive The 24 Hours of Lemons in December, and I camped at the track. I actually needed to use the heater at night!

Any idea when dates for track dates in the summer/fall are posted for Laguna? Have a friend from the mid-west who wants to come out for one.
Also aiming for the June 6th or 24th Thunderhill date.. and possibly that September weekend for Buttonwillow. Still gotta make sure I pass the broomstick test though.
Scott, know of a good fabricator in the area? I've heard of TC Design.. May need to do a custom seat mounting to clear the rollbar.
