Anyone hosting their own photos? I looked into picasa, photobucket, other photosharing services, etc for photo sharing, but the price/gb wasn't too great and the sizes were on the low side.
So, I decided to try my own host to put up the pics (300gb with 3000 bandwidth for like $80 a year through bluehost). I just started playing around with plogger and it's ok. It's just taking a lot of resources from my host. I am going to try playing with Jalbum later tonight. Any other open source recommendations?

I purchased the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and i love it, all around amazing lense, and it hasn't been off of my camera since i got it. I opted for the 17-50 instead of the 17-40 L because with the tamron, i also purchased the speedlite 430ex, so i'm not complaining. My first night out with the 430ex at a club are up on my flickr. So much better than my old shotty film SLR flash I had from an old pentax.

I use Dreamhost. 500GB of space, 5.7TB of bandwidth/month, which is more than enough for most people. I host my own stuff plus a small local car forum (http://www.turboforum.net)

Ok...I have been reading thru this thread, awesome awesome pictures anyway...I am still a n00b, but I was wondering where do i change the white balance and stuff on the computer...I have a Samsung P and S BUT where I work has just issued me a Nikon DH1. Does anyone have any pointers for this camera?
Also, I have noise like crazy in my pics, I take pictures normally at night due to working.
Thanks
Remington

Subscribing to the thread....
I just bought the camera off MR_X the guy who started this entire thread a year ago. He recommended me view the thread to learn how to do things on the camera.
Curious on night shots, mine always end up blurry, on page 1 there are good shots at 50mm, how do you change the camera to 50mm? is there a lense you have to buy or is it an adjustment to the camera itself?
yes yes I am a definate newby to this stuff!

Kyle. On the S3 you can't change the lens, you can add attachments to have better zoom or wide angle pics. So you can't get a 50 mm lens. But the lens doesn't have nothing to do with a picture coming out blurry. If you are like my wife that shakes her hands too much or presses the shoot button to hard, put the camera in a 2 second timer or get a tripod (highly RECOMMENDED!!!) or do both (I do a few times).

You deserve a HUG for this thread, REALLY, you deserve a hug, of some sort.
here a few I took a while back...following alot of the same rules, I still havent masterd DOF
if I had worthwhile editing software on my laptop these would be much better, they seem pixelated or as though they had soem SHARPENING added, its a matter of resizing on crap software
Shot with a TRIPOD and my 28-80 aspherical kit lense
and oh yeah...I guess I will add this
I shoot with a NIKON D100, not as though it really matters, I see you Cannon folks...dont think i dont see you and your really crisp images and super nice Glass, ahhhhh

Sharpness is more of a function of the lens than the body. I could post a picture off my old 10D w/ 70-200 f/2.8L IS and another shot from my 1D MKII with the same lens. Most won't notice a difference.

I am a noob on all this, and I just started to understand shutter speeds and apature settings. I tried my first HDR last night, and I was impressed. I have a Canon S3IS. I upgraded from a Kodak P880. I love this Canon!
