StefanZ, in the Hullabaloo thread, correctly pointed out that I was hijacking the thread by taking him to task on his recent forum arguments with Chico.
Please redirect further posts on the topic here. Moderators (if there are any, which I doubt) may feel free to move posts from that thread to here if appropriate.
My basic assertion is that the rise in arguments between StefanZ and Chico have driven many of the membership of the politics/war forum away, either to the general Off-Topic forums, or to other sites altogether. StefanZ disagrees. Sound off here.
Pete (wants it to be known that he considers StefanZ and Chico to be VERY valuable members of this forum and simply wants to communicate to them that the forum might be better if they changed his posting habits)

every politics/war thread is stefanz vs chico. i stay away since it all the threads end up with you two just quoting and responding. Its like you are trying to convert each other, isnt going to happen.
P/W thrives when we have a mix of passionate people with differing ideologies. Yet it breaks down when discussion devolves into mindless bickering. Nothing ruins a thread faster than a pissing contest. My respect goes out to the members who avoid or ignore the personal attacks.

No...that thread is what finally chased 1337 off the forum. You think it's funny to pick on people because they have poor language skills, differing politics, or are genuinely not as smart as you, but to me that thread was sadistic and petty. No matter how "wrong" he is, he didn't deserve that.
Is our main objective here to discuss politics with people of differing opinions, or is it to drive people with differing opinions off of the forum? Are we here to teach the people who are less informed and/or less intelligent, or are we here to call them names and ridicule them until they are afraid to post any more?
Which kind of forum do we want?

I disagree. That thread is an example of how fun this site USED to be. Now it is flooded with the " rsx is faster" and " that's emo ghey" crowd, and with the exception of a few, most add absolutely nothing of value.
As far as the StefanZ and Chico question goes, I tend to enjoy reading heated debates, but they tend to go overboard. I would say " BAN" StefanZ, but I would be saying that only because I disagree with just about everything he says and his posts give me a headache and raise my blood pressure, so that wouldn't be fair of me. So I will simply say that they need to try and limit their e-fighting.
