Default What's Your Take on Marijuana?

I haven't seen a thread on this topic on my350z.com yet.

Before your ignorance toward the subject causes you to stop reading, close this window and live ignorant, read on, not even my whole post, just skim through.

Personally I advocate the decriminalization of marijuana, medical use, and legalization.

http://www.norml.org/pdf_files/NORML...ing_points.pdf

So holistically do you believe that the pro's of decriminalization greatly outweigh the cons?

Yes, there are too many people in jail for drugs (although mostly not for marijuana)

I completely agree (but there are many there for marijuana offenses), and would you say that a person who is a marijuana user, who uses marijuana to relax and break away from all the stresses in life and have a little fun, should be thrown in jail with rapists, serial killers, tax cheaters, and con artists?

I don't think it's a bad thing. I know people who do it. I know others who have abused it and they have a problem, just like alcoholics. I also believe that if legalized, the "cool factor" would be eliminated and cause some people to stop. The government can't stop it so they might as well tax it like everything else and live with it.

Effects of alcohol > effects of weed.

Way more people are gonna go fight someone or crash their car fcked up drunk than if they were high.

Prolly not gonna happen though.

i never touched the stuff but its complete BS to have people sitting in prison for long terms around the US for possesion. i dont know about legalization in the realm of cigarettes because that becomes a slipperly slope and god knows what happens when corporations get into marketing it commercially but at the same time at least current laws need to be relaxed on possession.

basically i see it as a we should turn our heads to it kind of thing as far as not endorse it but yet not punish for using it.

make selling to minors a huge crime, and otherwise, legalize it subject to similar restrictions as alcohol.

i.e. you cannot be drunk at work , therefore you cannot be high either.

you cannot drink and drive, therefore you cannot smoke and drive

Basicly the goverment could be sole distributer of it making huge profit. They could control how much is distributed and current dealers are put out of buisness.

Basicly save the government and stop a lot of crime.

The more restrictions on it, the more money drug dealers/ drug dons make. Drug dons have major influence on politicians.

It's going to stay illegal once it's selling well.

Decriminalising it will make it dirt cheap, and everyone will make small profits, instead of few making big profit.

We've been fighting to make it decriminilised here for some time now, but Jamaica doesn't want to piss of the US. Therefore we have people being harrassed for stupidnesss. I will say though, if you get pulled over here and you play it cool, they'll just take away the weed and maybe take some money for 'their time'.

I think also the way the US potrays ganja as a gateway drug is ridiculous. It's only a gateway drug, because they make it seem as if it's JUST AS bad as all the major narcotics. So what do expect when a kid take a hit of weed, get's a little high, and then says... "fukc, that wasn't that bad. Might as well try some crack."

It's interesting how different parts of our country have different views on Marajuana. Honestly, in the pacific NW it just seems like an accepted part of life. For instance, amongst the employees at the hotel i work at i can think of only one or two (out of twenty) that arn't at least semi-regular pot smokers.

I'll never forget being in high school and smoking with this girl who was fresh from Georga for her first time since moving here. "Why is it green?"

It's a very different culture up here.

EDIT: Just so it's clear i'm in NO WAY talking crap about any other part of the US. Just informing others how it is up here.

Legalize it. Grow it, tax it, export it. Marijuana could be a new cash crop.
