Many/most Americans seem to be unhappy with Bush (Republican) and the majority in congress (Democrat).
It looks like it is time for real change. If you could make a 3rd party platform to replace these parties, how would it differ than the existing Republican & Democratic parties?

The Libertarian party. Economically conservative and socially liberal... the best of both worlds: freedom.

I have 100% supported the libertarian party since I first learned about them in middle school from my teacher. And by support I mean don't do anything.
Communism would work, if every human being was eradicated and the world started from scratch. Then it is wonderful -- no one would know anything else and I bet it would work fantastically. Otherwise, forget it lol.

Get rid of all "parties" and let the candidates stand for what they believe in.
Voters think, now you are taking it way too far. Next thing you will suggest is people should take care of themselves.....
A lot of old folks (my grandparents included) think too much off what is said on the TV. Media has gotten too powerful, the parties have gotten too powerful and worst of all our government had gotten too powerful.
the problem with the 'party' system is that the party no longer is an expression of the beliefs held by like minded individuals (e.g. nybdy and myself believe in less/no government involvement in citizens' lives and therefore create/join a party to further this agenda) and has instead become a monolithic club where beliefs are dictated by the party (and these aren't real beliefs)...
the parties (both of them) exists SOLELY for their own advancement...
a clear example of this is Ron Pauls candidacy... someone with REAL, TRADITIONAL, CONSERVATIVE values/beliefs didn't tow the PARTY line and was predictably marginalized...
the party system is broken and offers NO benefit for ANY citizen of this country.

I agree, but there is almost too much political power and money involved to do much without any sort of violent and radical change. Power corrupts, and those with differing views and opinions will be shut out by biased media meaning lack of campaign funding and support.
The two party system is a farce, and is one of the main sources of corruption, abuse, and misrepresentation in this country.

+1 Most of my friends don't know the difference between Republican and Conservative...and honestly I always thought they went hand in hand growing up.
The two-party system has completely failed us. We have rising gas prices, and Congress can't even figure what should be done (windfall profits vs. drilling for more oil). The line is drawn right down the middle.
