Mike (understands only the things that he is programmed to say, Mike thinks that a republican is someone like W, Mike really has no idea what a true republican is, Mike votes for catchy phrases not substance, Mike is willing to sacrifice our future so the new fake republicans win, Dave think Mike is just a spoiled brat)
I understand a very basic concept: Republicans have been moving left for a long time, and the more they move left, the more angry I get with them.
If you are angry with Republicans for moving left, you don't in response decide to support Hillary (which you have), and now, Obama (which you do).
That makes no sense, and I guarantee I understand what the Republicans are supposed to be absolutely completely. Let's see if you do:
Tell me: what kind of Republican would you support? What core principles do you need to see?

Palin didn't launch her career from that mans house.
My favorite part about this story is that the Obama camp tried to make it seem like Alice Palmer set up that appearance. When they asked her, she said she was only an invited guest and only spent a few minutes there. Ayers and Obama set up the whole thing.
the WHOLE thing.
but yea, they barely know each other.

I thought that the sentiment was just as anti American as Reverend Wright's statements
Palin had no relationship with the man that made the statments you are talking about.
Reverend Wright was Obama's "spiritual advisor" and pastor for 20 years. Until it became politically expedient to end the close relationship. Then, and only then, did Obama break it off.
Apples and Oranges.
Way to sidestep the elephant / unrepentant-terrorist in the room though.
Considering even CNN is picking up the Ayers bit...I'd say its a little more than smear.
its a lot more than a smear.. this whole situation is totally justified and for those who disagree, seriously.. do some research, reading through this thread made me pretty sick, some of you f*ckers are so god damn ignorant, im not saying all, but half of you trying to disregard this have no f*cking clue as to what your talking about. how far does this need to go? this is more than just ayers. if you all dont want to do your research then let me know and i will waste an hour for ya and shut you all the hell up. really, the majority of this is just a lack of research and an unwillingness to see anything wrong with the person you are supporting... god damn this is a joke.. and whats an even bigger joke is that obama and mccbush are where they are at neither deserve a shot at presidency. ive bit my tongue for a while but nearly every aspect of this election is one big joke.. and thats including 90% of the idiots voting.. ask the average voter a few questions as to why they are voting for who they are and you will get "there going to bring change" "they really connect with the people" "there mavericks" blah blah blah... most voters, including some of you.. are f*cking idiots

Agreed. When will we have an election where we don't have to choose the lesser evil?

Stefan here you go again with your silly "questions" and litmus tests that have no right answers, but if you agree with me as you seem to be, that today's republicans are not true republicans then why have you been bending over backwards to defend every dark hole they have gotten us into in the last seven years.
Yes I did support Hillary and now I support Obama and my reasons are because they seem to be more in line with republican values than Bush, Chaney and now McCain. That is my view, if I'm wrong so be it, but that's what I believe, you can go on defending the new big Government, big spender republicans that you seem to love if that is what you believe.
As far as principles go let's start by really putting country first and getting away from the negative and divisive politics that has consumed my party since 1994. These new republicans have not moved to the left, they just moved out and sold themselves and our country for greed, all they have done is spread hate between ourselves, and almost ruined the country.
Abraham Lincoln would not be allowed in the Republican Party today, Teddy Roosevelt would not be allowed in the Republican Party today, and Barry Goldwater would not want to be part of the Republican Party today.

So you supported Ron Paul before Hilary right?

I did, and do like Mr. Paul. I voted for him in the primaries but he did not have a chance in hell to make it, mostly due to the Republican's inner circle lack of support for him.

Taxes and Iraq. That's the extent of my support. Don't make stuff up.

I know your view. My point is that your view makes no sense. Defend why you think that Hillary and Obama represent Republican values more than Bush or McCain. The very statement is laughable.

They moved left, and continue to do so. The real Republicans are Conservative, and believe in lowering taxes and increasing accountability. Obama and Hillary support raising taxes and lowering accountability. That's the opposite of what real Republicans believe. Explain your position.

And none of those people bear any resemblance to Hillary or Obama whatsoever. Make your case.

Do you ever bother to read what you write? You said "The real Republicans are Conservative, and believe in lowering taxes and increasing accountability".
Really is that what they have done? Is that what you have been defending all this time? Is government smaller than it was 8 years ago? Are you paying less tax (over all) than 8 years ago? Did we get into nation building? And as far as accountability are you serious? That's not what real Republicans believe. Soooo Explain your position
At this point I don't give a siht about Democratic or Republican values; I'm just concerned with good old American values!
And yes Stefan at this point I do feel Obama better represents those American values.

You're operating on a misconception - a really reckless one. This Administration is not Conservative. They are not real Republicans. As I have said repeatedly, the only resemblance I see from this Administration of Conservatism is their ability to lower taxes and the stones to go to where the terrorists live and take them out.
I do have a lower tax rate than 8 years ago. Bush passed a tax cut.

Quit shifting the premise. Obama, and his strident desire to nationalize health care, as well as punish those who have achieved, is directly antagonistic to Conservative values. Republicans are supposed to be the representative of these ideals, but have instead chosen to become Democrats.
Nearly everything this government does on both side is antagonistic to Conservative values. Gingrich briefly flirted with Conservative values with his Contract With America, but the last great display of Conservatism was Reagan.
