The CA lottery is really an idiot tax. The odds are against winning money. But I just went to the store to grab a sixer and said WTF to the clerk, give me a ticket. They had a litany of tickets that frankly require you to jump through a bunch of hoops and I had a bit of a buzz and wanted an easy scratcher that didn't require me figuring out the game so the clerk says just grab an easy one that just makes you match numbers. I see a red white and blue ticket with like American Flag colors and ask is this one easy. He says yep, just match the numbers. I matched five of them and won $25.
Tell that to the dermatologist here in Orlando that won the Powerball and took home like $100mm. He already lived in a mansion, lakefront, in the same neighborhood as Scott Hoch and some other famous people, and has a trophy wife (his ex-wife is still bitter, lol). My friend even wrecked one of his waverunners over summer that he borrowed (before he won the lottery). Why he felt the need to play the lotto is beyond me...

We have MO lotto sponsored Keno in just about every bar here now. There is a new game every 3 minutes. I see people waste their money on this crap all the time. The other night the wife and I were out and for shits and grins I tossed $20 on keno ... won $67. Paid for our bar tab.
There is nothing wrong with playing the lotto or gambling in general ... if done in moderation and for entertainment.
People blowing their paychecks trying to get ahead are just foolish or are gambleholics and need help.
