Let politicians, who are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign conttributions from pharmaceutical companies decide what medications should be used to treat mental illnesses. I mean, they're doctors right? They'll know what's best.
This kind of sh!t is illegal and the perpetrators should be drummed out of office and arrested for corruption and taking bribes.
Not to mention the fact that we're going to screen for mental illness in preschool kids. If that's not a disaster waiting to happen, I don't know what is. I guess the sooner you identify and alienate the children, the better.
It's something like that, but only because the government has so much unconstitutional power to tax and spend.

>> How does one tell difference between overactive imagination and crazy for a preschooler?
I don't know yet, but I'd love to have that job. I could finally use my "F*** UP" stamp.

This is a BAD idea. Especially screening pre-schoolers. Holy sh!t! I wonder how many brilliant minds that could potentially change the course of our future for the better these a-holes will drug into submission because they don't fit their template for the young mind. I'm typically pretty republican, but this one pisses me off....
As if the "pill popping" nature of our society needed more encouragement.
I'm a former student of psychology and I get very distraught and concerned with the quick-fix medication nonsense coming out of psychiatry. The psychiatrists are the ones basically taking bribes from pharmaceutical companies and making a mint on 5 minute interviews and instant prescriptions. Psychotherapy is basically non-existent in the field of psychiatry (virtually the only mental healthcare professional able to prescribe medication). Diagnostic measures have become more lax, as well. It's even easier to prescribe medication for certain disorders than it's ever been. Just look at how much over-prescribing is being done for ADD in children.

Personally, I just think most people need someone to talk to. We're so obsessed with finding a *quick* solution to our problems so that we can get back to our all important "real lives". . .
People just need to chill out. I think Americans in general should take more vacations. People need to get outta dodge, see the world, meet new people, get laid more, drink more, party more, eat healthier, go outside more, buy comfortable chairs, take the train more, read more fiction, hang out at coffee shops, watch the news more, get foot massages more, and demand refunds for blockbuster movies that suck.
If we all did that I think everyone would be just a little bit happier.

I think all republicans should be pissed of about this. It's certainly not a republican idea!
