I think anything MM says has to be taken with a grain of salt. The fact that he will not do an interview were his credibilty will be questioned, or take questions from a group that may be "hostile" towards him, shows what kind of man he is.
One must keep in mind that his "documentaries" are not fact based news or reporting. In a free country, you are pretty much allowed to say whatever you want, no matter how absurd it sounds.
MM is so far to the left he can practically be called an extremist.
And if you question his credibilty among his supporters, your`re called a right wing nut.
I`m in no way a MM supporter, but I also can`t stand Bob Novack or that geek with the bowtie Tucker Carlson.
I liked "Bowling for Columbine" for it`s entertainment value, but hey, I also liked "Little Nicky"

I think the article listed was a good piece, thanks for the link. I was having trouble discerning what side of the political fence the author is on, but I'm hoping that doesn't matter.
Also, I'm glad this got an 'R' rating - hopefully that will keep some kids from getting their heads turned backwards before they get to see the whole picture.
Good link!

Some people soothingly say that one should relax about all this. It's only a movie. No biggie. It's no worse than the tomfoolery of Oliver Stone. It's kick-*** entertainment. It might even help get out "the youth vote." Yeah, well, I have myself written and presented about a dozen low-budget made-for-TV documentaries, on subjects as various as Mother Teresa and Bill Clinton and the Cyprus crisis, and I also helped produce a slightly more polished one on Henry Kissinger that was shown in movie theaters. So I know, thanks, before you tell me, that a documentary must have a "POV" or point of view and that it must also impose a narrative line. But if you leave out absolutely everything that might give your "narrative" a problem and throw in any old rubbish that might support it, and you don't even care that one bit of that rubbish flatly contradicts the next bit, and you give no chance to those who might differ, then you have betrayed your craft. If you flatter and fawn upon your potential audience, I might add, you are patronizing them and insulting them. By the same token, if I write an article and I quote somebody and for space reasons put in an ellipsis like this (…), I swear on my children that I am not leaving out anything that, if quoted in full, would alter the original meaning or its significance. Those who violate this pact with readers or viewers are to be despised. At no point does Michael Moore make the smallest effort to be objective.
Ebert pretty much said the same thing about Moore. I posted it in the Michael Moore thread.
Moore hasn't done anything "wrong." He produced a piece of fiction and pretended it was truth...he's not the first and he won't be the last. But he has betrayed a certain ethical code among documentary filmmakers, much like a magician who shows his audience how all the tricks are done. He's ruining the effect for the rest of his industry. The end result of Moore's antics will be that moviegoers will not believe that documentaries have any credibility.
Pete (thinks this is a good thing, overall)

Maybe the ends will justify the means.
I will most likely end up watching Farenheit becuase it'll help remind me why extremists shouldn't be taken seriously.
I feel Moore is a poor example of what self-described liberals are trying to portray. But don't feel too bad, we have Ann Coulter to deal with.

I like the F-911 commercial when Bush says something about killing terrorists everywhere, "now watch this drive." I think that part is actually going to help him get elected.

In some ways i belive Moore is going to really polarize the Democratic voting base - radicals will support him to the end of the earth regardless of how much he twists and distorts the facts.
Rational/educated democrats (aka Skooly) will see the appartent fallacies in Moore's "teachings", and most likely pull away from those far-lefters that are Moore lemmings.
So does anyone know if Nader has come out in support of F-911 yet?

I don't think any politician is going to touch it. It's a politician's nightmare.
Pete (wouldn't)
