Ok, Skooly, I've got to give you this one. I can't believe Bush would show clips of Hitler mixed in with the "wild-eyed" lefties. They're bad, but not THAT bad.
actually, if you watch that, it says 'what was war crimes in 1945' and shows hitler, 'is foreign policy in 2004' then says 'sponsored by moveon.org'. Its the democrats who are comparing bush to hitler. He's pointing out their negativity.
That Hitler ad was not created or sponsored by Moveon.org or by any other Democratic organization. Moveon.org sponsored a 30 second ad contest in which individual people created ads that would be voted on by the general public. Someone created that ad, as far as we know it could have been a Republican looking to discredit Moveon.org. When Moveon.org became aware of the ad it was summarily removed.
I do not think it is correct to say that moveon.org 'produced' that Hitler ad. I believe it was an ad produced and submitted to moveon.org by someone else.
Personally, I think the Hitler ad was submitted by a Bush supporter, then voted on by Bush supporters, to bring negative publicity to the liberal website.
Jeff (can find conspiracy theories when reading backs of cereal boxes)
True, it was part of a contest, but the TWO ads were up on their website for several days until the story broke.
Your conspiracy theories are pretty specious. The simplest answers are normally correct. The contributors names were posted on the site as well at the times the ads were posted. Do you not think that if those people were Republicans, we'd have had it splashed all over the NYTs as a diabolical Republican plot uncovered?
>> True, it was part of a contest, but the TWO ads were up on their website for several days until the story broke.
And when the 'story broke', they removed them. They did not produce, or even support the submitted ad - but deleted it. I don't think it was an "ooops...this ad isn't going over in the positive fashion we anticipated".
>> Do you not think that if those people were Republicans, we'd have had it splashed all over the NYTs as a diabolical Republican plot uncovered?
Correct. I do not think so. And I don't think it was diabolical. I actual think it was quite creative.
I don't really care who submitted the ad. It was a distasteful ad, and it was removed from the contest. I don't see any story here, diabolical or otherwise.
Skooly, did you see the pic of Hitler followed right after with a pic of Bush holding his hand up as in a Nazi salute??? This was made by a Democrat who was trying to liken Bush to Hitler! It was NOT made by Bush's side!

Come on now Jesse and Jeff! It was posted on THEIR site! I seriously doubt they would post it if a Bush supporter would have produced it! Are they THAT niave that they couldn't recognize it as a product of THE OPPOSITION??? If so, they are stupider than I first thought.

Well, who put the ads up there? Did somebody hack moveon.org, or, did somebody that work their create the html and put them up?
If a hardcore porn shot would have been submitted to moveon.org, would it have been automatically placed on the web until Drudge broke the story? I think not.

Exactly, the moveon.org ads were distasteful. Skooly saying this is pathetic when it was pretty obviously an ad created from things democrats had done was pretty interesting, though. I don't see how you could see the Bush ad, pay attention, and think he was calling Kerry Hitler.
Scafremon, seriously, you keep trying to act like you are in the middle in all of this, and it cracks me up. Just come out and argue your side of things instead of always pretending innocently you aren't slanted to one side

Here's a picture of Hitler. Since it is on this website, it must be sponsored and produced by My350z.com
I caught that the first mention on 1945 was from the MoveOn.org video. Was the clip of Hitler from the same MoveOn.org video? I couldn't tell. At any rate, I do think Bush should stay as far away from Hitler as possible, even if he's just quoting MoveOn.org. It's the worst form of bad politics, and Bush shouldn't even dignify those kind of attacks with a response. This Bush video only gives the liberals ammunition.
I'm really surprised that many of you cannot even consider the possiblity that the Hitler ad was submitted by a troll. We see similiar things done at this forum on a daily basis.
It's very possible that moveon.org previewed the submitted ad before allowing it to be seen by the masses, and maybe they left it up because they did not want to censor the submissions. Maybe they left it up and then removed it so naive people would drum up some creative/diabolical conspiracy theory.
Maybe they just made a mistake, and did their best to correct their mistake.

Draw me as you wish.
Is it possible? Sure, but it is also possible that Kerry had a hacker hijack the Bush site and post the ad there, too. Both are ridiculous assumptions (sarcastic nod to fatZo ).
Seriously, Occam's Razor should apply unless there is evidence to the controversy. You guys remind me of the Democrats that wanted to hold hearings to see if Bush 41 secretly flew on an SR71 to Paris to negotiate with Iran to hold the hostages until after the election in 1979.

Good point.
Even if skooly had forgotten that the images used in the Bush ad may have originated from a moveon.org contest, his post still holds water.
Originally posted by MannishBoy Posting ads publicly on moveon.org was not an automated process, as I understand it. Not even close to the same thing.
No, it wasn't automated. There was supposedly a screening process and it "slipped through" My point was to show that just because something appears on a website doesn't necessarily mean it's produced or endorsed by that website. It was also an excuse to make a somewhat funny picture about Hitler wishing he was driving a 350Z.
The Bush campaign creating this ad is disgusting. They are implying John Kerry is responsible for the Hitler ad which is patently untrue.
Jesse (does not agree with moveon.org on most things, except for the fact that Bush needs to go)
Again with the "imply". It didn't imply Kerry did it anymore that it implied that Kerry was the puppeteer with his hand up Gore's butt when he said Bush betrayed the country. It did say these people were in Kerry's party, which is true.
The ad isn't disgusting any more than it was disgusting when Bush used statements from John F Kennedy about tax cuts to sell his own tax cut plan a couple of years ago (Ted Kennedy was horribly upset). Why is it that democrats can't stand to see their own actions and words brought back up?
