We are in the process of redisigning our web site, so please bear with us. We will make our product introductions here in the meantime.
First…the GT Motorsports 3.78-4.24L Stroker Kits:
Stroke: 81.4-87.0-90.0mm (3.54-3.78-3.91L displacement with a 96mm bore, 3.84-4.10-4.24L with 100mm bore)
Bore: 96-100mm
Sleeves: Darton MID T-sleeves
We are pleased to introduce the absolute ultimate performance upgrade for the Nissan VQ35DE platform, the meticulously and thoroughly engineered stroker upgrade that brings the displacement of the VQ35DE to 4.26L (and optionally to 3.8L). The complete upgrade includes everything you need to take the VQ35 to an entirely new performance level. Achieving reliability that is required in street-driven cars at extreme performance levels is the true mark of complete and thorough design, and the primary design objective GT Motorsports set out to achieve.
Crankshaft
Three version of the crankshaft are available, 81.4mm (stock stroke), 87mm, and 90mm strokes. Each crankshaft (cut from 4340 chromoly high-tensile steel alloy billet) is hardened and tempered for a target tensile range of at least 930-1080 MPa (135,000-157,000 psi). The alloy incorporates 0.40% of carbon, proven to provide the highest degree of tensile, compression, and sheering strengths. Additionally, the alloy provides the maximum resistance to high-magnitude vibrational and impact forces found at high engine revolutions. Rapid-rate changes in engine revolutions at very high output levels, especially if utilized with an engine management system capable of flat-shifts (anti-lag shifts), exert high sheer forces on crank journals. Hence, the GTM® 4340 chromoly steel crank is the only material capable of tolerating these conditions in a street engine, while still retaining a large safety margin and real long term reliability and longevity.
Pistons
Two piston types are available: the Arias/GTM Extreme Duty, and the Wiseco/GTM Extreme Duty. Both are from zero-silicon aluminum forging, and are designed to have the highest heat and deformation resistance. They utilize buttons instead of spring locks, providing additional support. These GTM pistons are the first to integrate a gas expansion groove between the two ring grooves, allowing additional small, yet critical, volume for gas expansion. The piston also incorporates a slightly taller than usual design, with longer skirts to minimize movement and vibration.
Rods
Designed in-house, and manufactured from the same 4340 billet chromoly steel. This material was chosen for this setup over titanium due to longevity, and over a regular forging due to the added strength. Each rod weights 500 grams, and is tested to withstand an equivalent of 2100ft-lb of torque on a 6cyl engine. This unique design allows for an unprecedented compression force/weight ratio, making it the most thoroughly designed and most suitable rod available for the VQ35DE.
The Block
We utilize the Darton® MID T-sleeves to round out the design. The sleeves are bored to 100mm bore. The block and heads are prepared to accept oversize ARP 2000-series 12mm studs, with the use of Timesert® steel thread inserts. Upon completion, each of the block’s cooling system is assembled, sealed with a torque plate, and it’s water jacket pressure tested to 30psi (stock cooling system pressure is defined by the radiator cap relief pressure which is 13-16psi) while dipped in a pressurized water chamber at 230deg F. This test is designed to simulate the expansion of the aluminum and the steel sleeves (which are a copper-based alloy designed to expand similar to Al) seen in normal operation, whilst verifying the proper seal of the sleeves against the block. Additionally, the block/sleeves are designed to retain the stock oil jets for proper piston cooling and bore lubrication.
The individual components are only part of the story. It’s the combination of the components and the flawless implementation that speaks to premium level quality of this upgrade. Several combinations and options are made available to suit every need.
