All cylinder head stages include something that no other head manufacturer uses: RA Finishing of the head mating surface. This is a finishing process that ensures the optimal finish for proper sealing of the head gasket. Simply machining the head perfectly flat is not enough. A mirror-like finish is not optimal to proper head gasket sealing. The RA finish puts the right amount of grit onto the surface of the initially machined head, helping it most optimally “bite” into the head gasket when the heads are torqued down to proper specification. This process has been proven by many OEM and performance builders to provide the best sealing possible. Chrysler vehicles, that were notorious for head gasket sealing issues, fixed their already problematic design by factory RA finishing of the heads. Combining this technology with the superior head design of the VQ35DE, allows for the best possible mating of the heads and the block of any internal combustion engine.

Note the first picture below. In the porting process, we machine out the portion of the guide for more superior flow. This has been done on very high end exotic race cars (Porsche). The last picture shows the Stage 4 (most extreme) porting available; note the large size of the port.

Some flow bench numbers

Here you can see the flow improvements between the stock and Stage 3 heads, obtained from our testing. This was the final product.

"Cyl 1" designation in the legend of the chart denotes the stock heads, while "Cyl 2" stands for the stage 3 heads, all shown as a function of valve lift. The improvement is evident between the two, to an extreme degree. Notice also that our cams, introduced a few weeks back, have a lift of 0.423"/0.435" (Turbo/NA), allowing the system to actually take advantage of the greater flow (see the chart and where .423-.435 lift falls on the graph).

thanks for posting the flow charts.

I remember someone stating that these heads flow upwards of 400 cfm per port and I was having a hard time believing it. thanks for showing your numbers!

Sam,

Will a n/a engine benefit from any of this? Or are you targeting FI specifically?

This is the only way to make REAL power with any engine. Bolt-ons are just ancillary at this point.

So yes, n/a engines will benefit greatly.

how much more do the stage 4 heads flow compared to the stage 3 heads with the only difference being 1.5 mm instead of 1.0mm valve size increase?

are u sure that's not backwards? looks like the Cyl1 is flowing much more than Cyl2. I'm confused
