Unfortunately brian is would have been a very good option but we are WAY too far into your engine to make a change like this at this time.

And valvetrain required or not?
All these cams that you see are Stage 1 cams, they are designed for optimum driveability and idle quality while optimizing midrange power in the engine.

As far as the valvetrain, the cams are designed to be used with the factory valve train and springs, although we strongly recommend to upgrade the springs since you are already there.

If you are only doing cam replacement, then you can opt to put it some springs or reuse the factory springs. If you are in the process of an engine build I would recommend upgraded springs.

A basic spring upgrade would run you about $250, FYI

BUT there is not doubt there is a really solid midrange boost and they work really well with my Greddy kit.

(FYI: in case someone mistakes my joking... I think the GTM cams are very good. I actually sold my JWT C2 cams for these... The fact that your average person can't tell what my car is capable of until I romp on the gas.... VERY VERY impressive...)

Hey Brent I am glad you like the cams they really are a great addition to all our engines. A lot of people have the misconception that a high performance engine has to be a rough running or roudy engine. With todays current technology that is no longer the case, due to variable cam timing. It is all in the cam lobe tuning and design.

Stay out of trouble

Currently the cams released are all stage 1, we will be offering stage 2 and stage 3 cams shortly. Stage 3 will be the most aggresive, and all these stages will be offered in all 1st though 3rd gen camshafts (VQ35DE, VQ35DE REVUP, VQ35HR)

In the next few weeks, we will be releasing our new GTM HR(High Rev) Stroker kit, this kit will be equipped with our most aggressive cams and we will be shooting for a powerband that makes power all the way to 8k rpms. Also we will be releasing our cam for the 07 3rd gen engine (VQ35HR)

Gee, thanks Sam.... I have not even had a chance to start pushing the stroker kit I have and you are already releasing bigger/better versions ....
SLOW DOWN bro.... Take a vacation or something... Let some of use catch up with all the new stuff you have put out before overwhelming us with new product...

I mean, do we REALLY want to go through another build for me this year..... Just so I can stay on the bleeding edge... HAHAHA

Good luck with the new cams... maybe that is something I can upgrade in the winter if I feel I don't have a large enough power band . LOL
--B

PS. I could use a new 3.3 final drive, that would work with an ATS diff before mid July though..... :HINT:HINT:

I assume this was with the Stage 1 Turbo Cams. How about the other 2 that GTM sell as seen below.

Quick question though why does the Stage 2/3 cams duration swap around compared to Stage 1 ie: Stage 1 has a higher duration on EX and Stage 2/3 have a higher duration on IN? Also can anyone explain "generally" which of the cams you would use for what purpose or goals.

Stage1:
Intake: 256 deg (stock 238)
Exhaust: 264 deg (stock 240)
Lift: 0.423” (intake and exhaust)
Overlap: 18 deg (at 0.045” lift) – less than stock

Stage 2:
272 degrees @ .012”
232 degrees @.050”
11.00mm Valve lift intake and exhaust

Stage 3:
288 degrees @ .012”
245 degrees @ .050”
11.50mm Valve lift intake and exhaust

I may be completely wrong, so take with a grain of salt.

I currently run the stage 1 cams. My cams, showed good midrange power and still allowed power to be held through redline. As you move to the stage 2 and then to the stage 3, you are most likely pushing that power higher up in the revs; and making more of it

Im no GTM hater, but how do you explain the curve on a Vortech car smooths itself out so much from a crap base tune to a nice smooth curve with only a built motor and cams with NO tuning? That makes no sense at all...

I questioned the same thing . You see what I saw and have the same questions . Go back a read Sams explination...of which isnt really an explination . Just an attempt to make me look foolish .

It isnt a stock Vortech....then stock Vortech with his cams . The first dyno...the car had problems [ somewhere ] it only made 300whp on a dynojet . The second [ with cams ] the problem no longer is there . Easily seen by every one . But only you and I asked why .

have any others dyno'd this setup on a stock vortech setup vs. stock vortech setup + cams?

the one here has a built block and so it adds a few other elements to the analysis.

any extra info would be great. thank you.
