Exclamation GT Motorsports: Stock Block Vortech SC, 5AT, UTEC, 376RWHP

Another awesome car we had the opportunity to work on this week. Todd brought his car in for us to get a Vortech kit and a few other goodies installed and tuned. This car is a perfect example of a safe, reliable setup that has good power output. This car is very smooth and it feels very strong, with the combination of the 2.87 pulley and the GTM pulley mod we were able to have 9 psi of constant boost with out any belt issues at all, all the way to redline. The valve body upgrade was the icing on the cake, the car felt more responsive than ever, this car is truly a peace of art from the inside-out, enjoy.

nice setup, but with all that money into it you couldnt get a double gauge pillar pod for your a pillar?

and why go with the full kit? You added a utec and 440cc injectors.........90 bucks more and youd have a walbro pump and saved almost 2k off the price of the vortech kit.

loving the coolers up front, detracts your attn to the vortechs small ic.

nice car overall.....just a few spots see like you didnt research.

good questions, but more a result of circumstances than anything else. Until I took the car to Sam, I had done all the wrenching on my car -- suspension, intake, exhaust, plenum spacer, etc. I had planned on doing the base kit myself, and then over time upgrading piece by piece. Well, after seven months of having the box sit in my garage, I just sucked it up and went to Sam. At that point, I figured why not get it done right from the beginning.

As to the gauges, I don't like A-piller pods -- the boost is tucked down as low as it will go -- so it was more of a design issue than anything. The A/F is tucked in the back of the cubby, so there's still room in there to store things.

I appreciate your comments and can see where you're coming from. Just the way things worked out in the end!

Thanks for the kind words Zilvia.

As for the tails, I realize there is a contingent on the boards that doesn't like the JDM tails -- to me, they are perfect, as they match the rims/handles/clear corners/etc. The random red stock tails never seemed to work -- they didn't match stylistically with anything else on the car. So I'm happy with my clears. To each their own, and I appreciate your opinion.

George

Ive noticed on all the builds you have posted about in the last day or two . That you guys seem to always dyno the cars with the front bumper off . Id there a reason for this ?

Nice roadster and another nice build !!!!

I agree 100% ...... they match the rest of the reflectors and lights on the car and they look GREAT on a dark colored car. The completely red OEM taillights just looked out of place.

On a setup like this, could you have gotten any more out of it using a Fcon instead of the Utec? Any drivability issues with the Utec?

its a 370whp car.. u think the fcon vpro is seriously necessary??
at this powerlevels on the stock block an fcon vpro is as 'necessary" as the fan radiator shroud

George,
Three questions, and you can pm me on it.
1. The price for that set up.
2. How long to do (time frame) for job?
3. Is it California Carb Legal and Smog Passing?
Thanks,

And it is a nice set up, especially if it will pass CA requirements. Beautiful car for the owner.

That's why I asked the question as I thought the numbers looked a little low for that pulley combo and mod list. Also, there has been plenty of talk about how much smoother the Fcon is during transitions on the street (well, there are no transitions) than the Utec..

So what was the point of your response again? Get your head caught in your fan shroud?

Since the mod list includes high flow cats, then it is not legal. Would it pass a sniff test - absolutely and cross fingers on a visual inspection.

I guess you didnt see the point well, or took things the wrong way.... there is no question on how much better a standalone ECU is with respect to a "piggy back" like the UTEC, the point is that AT THE POWER LEVELS OF THE CAR, switching to a utec makes as much sense as upgrading the fan shourd(sarcasm? ). THe utec has been installed hundreds of time, and with many have achived smooth tunes/curves(dynosheet) on a stock block setup with the utec...makes no sense to overkill it any more from where the car is at.

What does smooth curves in a 1:1 gear have to do with drivability?

i said smooth tune .....point is you could spend a lil more tine with the utec and improve the drivability and save the 1000$ extra for the fcon, but do what you like

Love the aesthetics and all the gizmos (first time I've seen the VSDX). Nice, clean build! Congrats.

lmao, +1. fcon vpro with all the supporting parts and tune would have cost almost as much as this guys full vortech kit. not worth it at these power levels.
