R/T Tuning VQ35HRTT Power GS400 Drift/Whater is fun car
So we purchased this car back in late 2007 at a steal of a price. We really didnt do anything with it for a while, the reason being that I wanted to be able to do it 100% or not at all.
The Begining
The GS400 started as Lexus factory backed Motorla Cup car. There were 4 GS400's built for this series and was Lexus's first endevor into US racing. From what I understand, two cars were crashed or canabilized, one is in mint condition and is at a lexus museum/display facility.....and we have the other one.
The car started as this
Then looked like this
The Plans
Initial plans were to TT the factory 1UZ, switch the trans to a V160 run an adapater plate and a Twin disc clutch. So we aquired all these parts and started to move forward. Just about that time were really started tuning alot of TT VQ's. With trying to keep the 1UZ, control the VVTi and have a full standalone, there werent many choices and they were on the expensive side. So we decided to switch the motor out, swap in a VQ and TT it. We will also be tuning this VIA UPREV so our cost on a standalone was minimum. We ordered some turbo manifolds as well as some brand new GTX28 turbos and this is where we stand. Hopefully we will be around 550-600whp on a stock block with great spool and plenty of room to grow.. There are alot more lil details but ill try and include all them as we post more....
So we just received our GTX2863's for our Twin turbo HR build that we are doing. Dimensionally the are the same as the 2860's with a lot more flow potential up top. We are looking to get the best possible spool with out sacrificing power up high. we are using .63 exhaust housings with V band outlets. They also have a .86 housing available. They also have a GTX2867R option which we might switch to later if we wanna make bigger power...some pics for ya guys
Detailed pics
GTX2863 Compressor Map compared to a GT2860RS(disco Potato)
GTX2863R next to a GT2871
I overlayed so compressor maps for comparision...these are pretty much the reason I was excited for these turbos...
NOW Looks Like This
Stay tuned for updated pics and info....

I like the 1UZ but from a stock standpoint the VQHR has 10 years more technology and can handle more power. As well our familiarity with them.
