Custom Gauge Faces
Hi everyone,
Here is the initial info for everyone that might be interested in this.
I have obtained a spare gauge cluster that I will sending to www.speedhut.com. They make custom gauge faces among other things, which is what this thread is about. This is a really cool thing we can do to our Z's to give them that extra tricked out look. Base prices on the website start around $70, but I will post again later to give you all of the updates. If you click on this link below you can see all of the options you have to make your own Custom gauge face. This is some really cool stuff.
Example of custom gauge faces at SpeedHut
Now the idea is that we need at least 25 people to get in on this to make it a go with the tooling. I say we because it is more than just me, this is for everyone who is interested.
PM me or send me an email to ray3hull@earthlink.net for details and I will let you know how you can get in on this and secure your custom gauge face.
Also, I am looking for the battery and oil pressure gauges above the navigation door(I dont' need the digital one) if anyone has them lying around and is willing to part with them for this project, please let me know. Thanks.

Okay, here is an updated post for everyone. I have sent out the spare gauge cluster to speedhut. They have informed me that as soon as they get it, they will post it up on their website. Expect this to happen by mid next week, July 9th maybe. Also the price update is around $100.00, but you can add anything you want to your gauge face free of charge if you are one of the first 25 people. Anyone who buys this afterwards will be charged extra for each feature/option that they want.
All that is needed now is for you to help and spread the word and as soon as 25 people have signed up and chipped in their money, they will start the tooling process. Once the tooling process starts it will take roughly 5 weeks before you receive your custom gauge face in the mail.
I will post up more information as I get it and also to let you know when you can see this on www.speedhut.com.
Lastly, I am still looking for someone who has the oil pressure and voltmeter gauges above the navigational door in teh center console, it would be great if we could customize them as well. If you know anyone who has them for sale, PM or email me!!!
Thanks.

have you or anyone addressed the fact that you cant remove the needles? I thought this was impossible since removing the needles would destroy the cluster, and you cant replace the faces without removing the needles...
I applaud your effort on this, but was this issue incorrect, or have you found a way around it?

you don't have to remove the needles to install the gauges. the circular opening in the middle have two tiny slits ( -O- ). Therefore you can slide the gauges through the needle.
Can you request for reverse EL Silver dials, and red/orange lights at night? I like the stock colors, just want silver dials instead of our stock black.
If that's possible i'm definitely in.

That is great news to hear, I am confirming it with speedhut as well. Here is an example of the gauges that you can make if you want. When you are done all you have to do is order it and then wait until there are 25 orders total before they start to make them. And remember everything you do will only still be $99.95 plus $8.00 shipping!!

This is a reply I received from the guy who works for Speedhut.com. He says that the faces will slip over the needles, so you are just covering them.
I have invited him to join us online so if you have any questions for him we can let him know.
HI Ray,
Sorry for late reply.
We can make the holes large enough that the needles don't have to be
removed. This does cause a black circle around the needle hubs but insures
that no one will break needles.
This would be how the gauges would be made.

not for nothing, but like that one with blue flames that was posted, you couldnt do that, cause if its over the stock setup, it wouldnt be lit there...
Im a little lost on everything, how could you change the color of the gauge if the light is still passing through the stock amber coloring first?
