Default Best way to cover up my hood?

Long story short, my 350z has a carbon fiber hood (a factory hood).
2005 Nissan Roadster GT.

Time has not been good to the hood. It is completely oxidized. not just a little bit of hazing, I mean like really really really bad.

In the past I've been able to spot treat it with marine de-oxidizer and wax... but alas I have lost the battle.

Since I am looking to sell my 350z, I need it to have curb appeal and look good. Thus I am deciding best way to handle the hood.

1) I think the worst idea is to have it sanded lightly and re-gel-clear-coated. NO garuntees this will work and expensive.
2) Sand the hood completely and paint it. Too expensive for the results.
3) Have it Vinyl Wrapped to a matte black (will be nice accent that matches the cloth roof)
4) Plasti-dip. This is the one I'm unsure about. Can I apply plasti dip to a carbon fiber hood? I notice most plastic dips come in cans for like $30... is it really that easy? Just spray paint it with this magic stuff? I've never seen it in person... will it look good?

I don't want any more tips on how to combat the oxidization. Trust me I've tried everything.... It's time for a cover up or re-do.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Try a wet sand and polish. If that doesn't yield a good result, vinyl wrap. Plastidip really is a douchb@g ricer product, great for the Civic camber kids.

I would recommend vinyl. And if you were local in PA I would do it for you, but that may be quite a long drive from Canada

You could try sanding it and then getting some clear coat and giving that a try... It will probably look good for a year or 2 plenty of time to give it some curb appeal.

I bet my hoods uglier than yours... Im planning to paint mine at some point. All last year I washed it with scotch brite and sand paper.

Welcome and paradoxically, you're selling your Z after your first post. First off, there were no factory carbon fiber hoods on any production Z33s. All the OEM hoods were aluminum. It sounds like you're trying to make the hood look better without spending any money. That's usually a recipe for a poor job and no guarantee of anything, except you giving a big discount to the buyer.

Count me as one of the doubters this can ever be done cheaply and well. It's either one or the other, and you get to decide which.

I am not OP but I would guess that they mean its the OEM style. So it just has the 2 'DE' indents. Rather than it being a different styled vented hood.

I could be wrong but just a guess

check local salvage yard if theres an undamaged OEM hood or someone in your area that swapped their OEM hood for an aftermarket one and want to sell or get rid of the OEM to make space.

I'll go for a vinyl wrap too. Vinyl wrap is much more practical and cheaper. My vinyl wrap project was installed by Gatorwraps. I am very satisfied.

Wrap it. Friend of mine had his black Roadie hood wrapped with the carbon fiber wrap and it looks great.
