I still have my 2003 Performance, still running the PE TT kit. It was my daily driver when I was commuting. Went through some really bad back problems etc [due to a Crashhawk forced landing in Just Because]. Then, commuting to a new job, a pregnant unwed woman without a driver's license driving somebody else's junk van, van owner and her having no insurance, drove up on a sidewalk while making a right turn on red to ram me in my right rear, damaging my stock rim, fender below the gas cap, and the adjacent part of the rear bumper. With everything else going on, I was so depressed I parked it and picked up a MB SLK 230 as my work beater so I wouldn't care if I got rammed. Only been firing the Z up once a month and taking it to town and back to keep it alive. Well, long story short my sons have been harassing me about it, and then the tree guy showed up to remove a huge tree in my yard, and he harassed me about it. The final straw. So the last week I have been repairing odds and ends on it. It took a beating from daily driving on the interstate. So far I have gone back to my NISMO exhaust, added fuel pressure and water temp gauges in the ATI steering wheel mount [worked fine for me], and tomorrow I drop it at a local shop to have the stainless steel exhaust manifolds removed and the cast iron PE ones installed. This afternoon I went by the body shop and he took a look and is preparing an estimate for repairing all the nicks and dings and the damage by the woman, will get a total respray and clear coat, most likely in December. I came back here because honestly there is no better source for information on the 350Z that I can find.
I might add I was also inspired by the NISMO 370Z at the local dealership. At those prices, I'll dump some cash into the Z I have. Yeah, I can afford it, or alternatively, a GTR, but it's not just the cost of the car - horrible property taxes here on new cars, that last for years, and high insurance costs. My insurance is peanuts right now, as well as property taxes on my two personal cars. I really don't want to make the state rich.
I've owned my Z since January 2004, I joined here that same month. In an odd coincidence, I was at the Dentist today and he told me he has the first year of the 300ZX, twice he was selling it and backed out. He can't seem to part with it. lol.
Since the time I was active here, my youngest boy has attended and graduated West Point, is finishing his time as a tank platoon leader and will be the company XO when he returns from deployment at the National Training Center. He will inherit my Z, so any changes he must approve. I stopped working for good two years ago this past May, and wonder sometimes why I waited...
It is good to see some of the gang still around, Cheston, Blue Batmobile, etc.
Sorry for being so 'wordy' if that is a word. lol
