i'm also a fan of griffey jr.
such a beautiful swing
doesn't seem like there's as much fanfare about this milestone...wonder why
yes, the best swing i've ever seen.
this was a milestone Griffey could have accomplished a long time ago....but, with injuries...he was held back. maybe that's why there wasn't as much hype? i know what you mean, though...this was huge for him.
Bonds' homerun record is a record that should be held by Griffey.
But, again, due to injuries, we are stuck with Bonds on top until AROD gets it.
Amazing to think that Griffey and AROD used to play together and COULD HAVE been 1 and 2 all time...
Unfortunately for Griffey, he achieved this milestone in a time when people are WAY too skeptical when it comes to homerun totals, so it didn't receive the fan fare it should have.
I congrat him. HE has one of the nicest swings in Baseball if not the nicest. I just wish he didn't get hurt also. He would have been in the top spot if...
Atleast my Marlins will make the record books
My buddy does work for the Griffeys and say they are some of the nicest people.
Griffey is the best ballplayer of this era. Hands down. As others have said, without injuries, who knows what could have been. And it's nice to see a superstar player decline in skills in his late 30s, instead of get better (Bonds).
In regards to Griffey's injuries, I heard on the radio speculation, based on his HR per AB each year, that if he had stayed healthy, he would be at 710 right now. Injuries don't take away from him as a hall-of-famer, though.
To the A-Rod comment. I can, without hesitation, say that Griffey is clean in the steroids scandal. There is no way I can say that about A-Rod. Even if he ends up breaking Bonds' record, there will always be some doubt in my mind.
if he could play 4 more years he could get to 700, he would have to go back to the AL and DH but he keeps himself pretty thin and takes good care of himself, so i dont see why he couldnt play that long. Aaron and bonds played into thier 40's so i dont see why Jr cant. hell frank thomas is 400 pounds and still plays
