Default 2008 USA Basketball Team in Beijing Olympics

At the last Olympics in 2004 the USA team ended up with a humiliating bronze medal.

This summer in Beijing, the team looks to strike gold again, as we've done in in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

The official roster will be announced by the end of the month, but it should look close to this:

SF - LeBron James
PF - Carmelo Anthony
C - Dwight Howard
PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Kobe Bryant

PG - Chauncey Billups
PG - Chris Paul
SG - Dwayne Wade
SG - Michael Redd
PF - Tayshaun Prince
PF - Chris Bosh
PF - Carlos Boozer

So the obvious question remains: Can we win the gold again in Beijing with this team?

With their eyes closed the can win it. The Talent pool on this team is too deep not to win it.

Of course, they now have unquestioned leadership in Kobe and Jason Kidd. Watching NBAtv players have already agreed that those two basically call the shots and then Kobe says he still even refers to JKidd. So there is an established hierarchy this time. Not to mention JKidd has always received a Gold medal and nothing less in his appearances.

True but many of those players were on the 2004 team and they only got Bronze. I do think they will do better this time around with Kobe.

Michael Redd is the reason they win, if they do.

^I agree. He spreads the floor which was the problem they had last time. I thought Mike Miller was also on the team?

From that lineup, they could use another shooter and another big.

Should be no problem to win even with international rules. I had always believed that b ball was invented in Mass, USA.

INTL rules = FTL

Did you just say that Kobe has "unquestioned leadership"???

He and Carmelo are the only reasons I think we might not win.

There needs to be at least one more big man to compliment Howard.

If I were having to coach against this team, id go with a zone and 1. Man up on Redd or whoever the hot shooter is and bunch up the basket. They need another true center..Dwight will be a liability at the end of the game. Theyll only go as far as their 3 point shooting if that is the real lineup..Ive heard Tayshaun may be left off for another center, which would make perfect sense.

Carmelo has been one of the most consistent players on the USA team.

I think they should drop kidd for another shooter or another big. For another PG, I'd rather have andre miller, deron williams or maybe arenas if he's healthy over kidd.

As far as centers, stoudemire comes to mind, but not sure who else.

They could use another pure spot up shooter, but from looking at the lineup, don't know who I'd take off.

At the end of the day, I couldn't care less who is on the team as long as we win the gold medal. Anything less is a complete failure.

I'm telling you guys! I was almost 80% percent sure the pure shooters on the team were mike miller and Michael Redd. I don't see why they would have left Miller off the team they definitely need another pure shooter on the team after the last fiasco.

That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read. Seriously man, you've said some ignorant stuff before but this one almost takes the cake. Obviously you haven't kept up with USA basketball since the Dream Team.

Way to stack up on the big men!

Although I'm a huge Pistons fan, Tayshaun should be swapped out for Duncan.

Facts own me? lol okay there slugger.

Again. Kobe and Carmelo are the reasons we will lose IF we lose. What don't you understand about that?

I remember that we got Bronze last time. That was after the dream team. You'd know that if you'd hop off Kobe's cock long enough to give those little white girls a shot at it.

Life > you

Or even Camby or Chandler. We are a bad ref away from 3 early Dwight Howard fouls and a long night of getting worked in the middle.
