This sucks, I only watch golf when he plays. This is a big blow to the golf world. I guess that knee was hurting pretty bad. He stated winning this Open was probably his greatest moment in golf, he was not kidding, only he knew how bad that knee was, and for him to win that Open was incredible. Imagine what the other pro golfers are thinking now. Those fuggers are glad Tiger is shutting down the rest of year, so now they have a shot at winning some tournament. I guess the Euro's are going to win another Rider cup.
Jesus christ your fast!!! lol I was gonna post this, but you beat me to it!
Well say whatever you want about him, but I think this pretty much has to shut up every critic this guy has. He beat everyone with a major injury! This guy only gets better. The rest of the field better enjoy the rest of the 2008 season. Come 2009 Tiger may never lose again.
^ Try swinging a driver at a 100+ mph. It puts a lot of train on your hands, wrists, knees and back.
i've got to the driving ranges a bunch. never did enough to cause any strain... i guess if you do it that much and that hard i can see how maybe it could cause some damage to the body. thanks.
I read he actually first suffered the injury while jogging. But I could see how it could happen golfing as well. They twist their knees and put a lot of stress on the ligaments during their swings. If you watched the tournament this weekend you could really see how much pain he was in every time he swung....especially on drives.

correct, most golf injuries start in the hands, and lead to other injuries because you change your swing to compensate for your hand/wrist hurting.

Tiger's results after his ACL injury. Ummmm, thats ridiculous.
Great story about when the doc told him he also had a stress fracture beside the torn ligament....
"Woods' swing coach, Hank Haney, described the moment when Woods first learned of the stress fractures, and doctors told Woods the preferred treatment for the stress fractures was three weeks on crutches and three weeks of inactivity.
"Tiger looked at the doctor and said, 'I'm playing in the U.S. Open, and I'm going to win.' And then he started putting on his shoes," Haney said. "He looked at me and said, 'Come on, Hank. We'll just putt today."'

His doctors are saying 6 to 8 months and he's good to go with a good rehab. Next season should be fun to watch...This year as well....Some new faces hoisting the trophies.
Yeah, cant wait when Tiger gets paired up with Goosen. Should be fun to watch a Tiger beat down.
Goosen backpedaled a bit and downplayed his comments but still didn't retract and said, "If he was really hurt wouldn't he have withdrawn?" This was after the torn ligament was revealed.
No Goosen, you'd have withdrawn...Tiger just has more drive than you.
Goosen is just another douche like Sabatinni. I'd like to see Goosen & Tiger get paired up as well. It's going to be like pissing of a pitbull (or a Tiger, for that matter).

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. When he hit a bad shot off the tee for example he'd wince and grimace and limp off the tee........when he'd bomb a tee shot down the middle, he'd immediately grab that tee and take off. I think Goosen's comments were more of an observation than a comment meant to harm precious Tiger.
I'll enjoy the coming year of golf coverage without Tiger. I might just get to see the rest of the field.......
