Kobe did ignore it. He hasn't said anything, and that's on purpose. He's "damned if you do damned if you don't," so he hasn't said a thing.

In fact, Dan Patrick tried to get him to comment on it this morning on the radio, to which Kobe just replied, "I'm just focusing on the Olympics, and then after that, on my Lakers team," in essence not addressing it at all.

And, btw, Shaq already looks like a douche. He's lost a lot of good support over this, and, well, he deserves it.

I don't take anything away from Shaq. It's stupid for anyone to suggest that Kobe would/could have won those rings without Shaq.

Shaq's rap just basically served to demote himself. If you read/listened/stomached his rap, you would have heard him rip on Kareem (in addition to asking Kobe how his ass tasted).

Aside from defending Kobe (let's separate that for a moment), this was an isolated exercise in immaturity, self-aggrandizement, tastelessness, and arrogance. That's a stand-alone assessment, aside from any "Kobe-nuthugging" (I've always felt that that term had some homosexual undertones...not that there's anything wrong with that).

Personally, Shaq could have ripped on anyone he wanted to (including Ewing...which he did). But once you go after #33, The Cap, you better back it up. And Shaq can't. He crossed a line he couldn't hope to defend.
